When it comes to creating her own lane in the world of F1, 19-year-old Bianca Bustamante<\/strong> is moving full steam ahead.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Bustamante, a development driver for McLaren, has made major waves in the world of racing \u2014 from her youth and energy to her gigantic social media presence, which includes 1.6 million followers<\/a> on Instagram.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In an exclusive interview with Us Weekly<\/i>, Bustamante said she has no plans on slowing down.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI faced the struggles, I know the barriers, I know the financial difficulties of making a career for yourself in motorsport,\u201d Bustamante said. \u201cI\u2019ve gone through it all, and many times I\u2019ve told myself I\u2019m never going to make it. I was told constantly, even by people around me \u2014 family and friends \u2014 to dream less so you\u2019ll achieve something in life. Hearing all that, obviously I was still very driven.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Born in the Philippines, Bustamante began racing at the age of 5. With two F1 Academy wins in 2023 as a member of ART Grand Prix under her belt, she has her eyes set on continuing to bust pre existing stereotypes lingering misconceptions of what an F1 driver can be.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cYou see steps being made every single day,\u201d Bustamante boasted. \u201cThe public, people from the outside, might not hear it or might not see it yet, but steps are being made. It is incredible.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Bustamante credited many of the \u201cmale allies\u201d in the sport<\/a> for helping to push the sport forward.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cChanges just don\u2019t happen in a day, changes just don\u2019t happen overnight,\u201d she said. \u201cRome wasn\u2019t built in a day. It\u2019s the constant hard work and education put in by everyone to make the sport a more inclusive space. It\u2019s not just me, it\u2019s my group of people behind me.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Bustamante added, \u201cI\u2019m so happy to be on the frontlines of those barriers being broken\u2026That\u2019s always the great thing, isn\u2019t it? Passing the torch a little bit to the next generation. Hopefully the next generation doesn\u2019t have to go through the struggles I went through.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n
