The duo \u2013 who portray Glinda and Elphaba in the onscreen adaption of the beloved Broadway show, respectively \u2013 have notably grown emotional while discussing their special connection in the film, which hit theaters in November 2024.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think we found a little piece of ourselves in each other,\u201d Erivo said while holding the hand of a crying Grande during an interview on \u201cJake\u2019s Takes<\/a>\u201d earlier that same month. \u201cI think there are little pieces of us that, when we got together to do this together, when we first started, each of us was missing a little chunk.\u201d<\/p>\n

She continued, \u201cAnd I think we\u2019ve been able to see in each other a bit of a reflection, and so I think I\u2019ve gotten a little bit of her softness, and she\u2019s got a little bit of my strength.\u201d<\/p>\n

During an interview with Entertainment Tonight<\/em><\/a> in November 2024, Grande and Erivo<\/a> addressed why they\u2019ve been so emotional about their film.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re trying our best, but there are a lot of emotional things that happened, and we\u2019re just going with it,\u201d Erivo said into the camera, to which Grande added, \u201cYou have to understand, it\u2019s been like, three years, people! There\u2019s a lot going on \u2026 Why does emotional availability scare you so? It\u2019s out of happiness and joy.\u201d<\/p>\n

Every interview I\u2019ve read, Cynthia, of you and Ariana, it just says that you end up in tears all the time.\u201d<\/p>\n
