Chris Stapleton<\/strong> couldn\u2019t let the 2024 Country Music Association Awards<\/a> end without giving a shoutout to one of the most important people in his life \u2014 his wife<\/a>, Morgane Stapleton<\/strong> (n\u00e9e Hayes). The country singer forgot to thank her when he accepted the Single of the Year award for his song \u201cWhite Horse\u201d on November 20, 2024, but he made up for it with his Song of the Year acceptance speech.<\/p>\n \u201cI really am taken aback. She\u2019s also written music for Carrie Underwood<\/strong>, Kellie Pickler<\/strong>, LeAnn Rimes<\/strong> and more. In April 2021, it was revealed that Miranda Lambert<\/strong> would be filling in for Chris\u2019 wife at the ACM Awards due to Morgane having a \u201cprior doula commitment,\u201d according to People<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n Chris later clarified, \u201cMy sister-in-law\u2019s in labor right now, so my wife was on baby watch \u2014 and for once, not her own baby! \u2014 but it\u2019s been an interesting night tonight, so lots to celebrate.\u201d<\/p>\n Chris and Morgane met in 2003 when they both worked as songwriters at neighboring music publishing companies. \u201cI kinda did stalk him. A little bit,\u201d Morgane told Paste Magazine<\/em><\/a> in 2015. \u201cI was friends with his song-plugger and I would go hang out in her office, like, every day.\u201d<\/p>\n The \u201cStarting Over\u201d singer asked Morgane to write a song with him, which became their first date.
