Clapping back! Howie Mandel<\/strong><\/a> slammed Andy Cohen<\/strong><\/a>\u2018s comment that he \u2018didn\u2019t do his homework\u2019 before interviewing<\/a> Tom Sandoval<\/strong><\/a> about his affair with Raquel Leviss<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cI don\u2019t need to do homework,\u201d the comedian, 67, told Extra<\/em><\/a> on Wednesday, April 12. \u201cI know who he is. I wasn\u2019t gonna weaponize his information and kind of, you know, challenge him on each thing.\u201d<\/p>\n The former Deal or No Deal<\/em><\/a> host went on to say that he assured Sandoval, 40, he could open up without fear of judgment<\/a> from his interviewer. \u201cI also said to Tom, \u2018If you come in, just tell your side. I\u2019m not gonna judge it. I\u2019m not gonna argue with you. I\u2019m not gonna call you out,’\u201d Mandel explained. \u201cIt\u2019s not a deposition, it\u2019s a podcast, right?\u201d<\/p>\n The Canada native added that he doesn\u2019t \u201ccondone cheating\u201d but he\u2019s \u201cworried\u201d about Sandoval\u2019s well-being. \u201cI was in the room with him. He was visibly shaken, visibly damaged at this point,\u201d Mandel claimed. \u201cHe\u2019s a human being and I have empathy for every human being, I really do. He\u2019s going through a real tough time, maybe he deserves to go through a tough time, but I really do feel for him. I feel for Ariana [Madix]<\/strong><\/a>, I feel for Raquel, I feel for anybody who is involved in this.\u201d<\/p>\n Mandel and Sandoval both drew criticism for the Tuesday, April 11, interview, during which Sandoval claimed he broke up with longtime girlfriend Madix, 37, in February<\/a>. The TomTom co-owner claimed that his Fancy AF Cocktails<\/em> coauthor refused to accept the split. (Us Weekly<\/em> confirmed on March 3 that the duo, who started dating in 2014, had called it quits after Sandoval was caught cheating with Leviss, 28.)<\/p>\n \u201cObviously, [Ariana] was very upset. She freaking punched me<\/a> and all this s\u2013t,\u201d Sandoval claimed of the alleged February breakup. \u201cA couple days later, I sit down and talk with her again, and she\u2019s like, \u2018I\u2019m not letting you leave me. You\u2019re gonna have to force me out of this relationship.\u2019 I was like, \u2018Ariana, I don\u2019t think I could be faithful in a relationship with you right now.\u2019 I hadn\u2019t told her about Raquel yet. She\u2019s like, \u2018If you break up with me, you will effectively be ending my life.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n Hours after the interview, Cohen, 54, called Mandel the \u201cJackhole of the Day\u201d<\/a> during the Tuesday episode of Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen<\/em>. \u201cHowie Mandel apparently didn\u2019t know what he was getting himself into with his interview of Tom Sandoval today,\u201d the Most Talkative<\/em> author quipped. \u201cBecause it seems like maybe he didn\u2019t do his homework?\u201d<\/p>\n One day later, the Bravo exec elaborated on why he was \u201cannoyed\u201d<\/a> by the podcast. \u201cI\u2019m surprised [Tom] gave an interview to someone who doesn\u2019t seem to be familiar with the show or watched the show on any level,\u201d Cohen explained. \u201cAnd [Howie\u2019s] like, \u2018I don\u2019t understand why this is a big deal,\u2019 but, you know, maybe that\u2019s what Tom felt he needed from an interview, so that he could just be completely unchallenged.\u201d<\/p>\n The producer also theorized that Sandoval agreed to the interview because of personal connection to Mandel.
