Cher<\/strong><\/a> opened up about her relationship ups and downs with ex-husband Gregg Allman<\/strong> in her new memoir.<\/p>\n

\u201cI didn\u2019t know whether my relationship with Gregory would last or not. I was living each day as it came,\u201d the singer, 78, wrote in Cher: The Memoir \u2014 Part One<\/em><\/a>. \u201cThen I found out I was pregnant, and we decided to get married.\u201d<\/p>\n

Cher recalled how the couple\u2019s nuptials were \u201carranged within a few days.\u201d She told two of her friends and they joined her in Las Vegas for the ceremony that was \u201cover in minutes.\u201d She and Allman, who died in 2017<\/a> at age 69, posed for photos then flew \u201cstraight back home.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI was no longer Cher Bono but Cher Allman, Gregory\u2019s third wife,\u201d she penned. \u201cThere was little about our wedding day that was romantic.There would be no honeymoon.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tCher may have had a long and successful career \u2014 but not without some of her own personal drama. The Grammy winner dropped out of high school in 1962 to focus on her music and soon after met Sonny Bono. After falling in love \u2014 and finding musical success together \u2014 the twosome tied the [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

In the book, which hits shelves on Tuesday, November 19, Cher explained that after Allman left one morning, she looked through his Dopp kit and allegedly found a \u201cplastic bag full of white powder.\u201d While Cher had been by Allman\u2019s side throughout his addiction struggles, finding the substance was a breaking point for her as she was expecting their first baby together. (Cher was already the mother to Chaz, whom she shared with ex Sonny Bono<\/strong>.)<\/p>\n

After seeing her doctor for a checkup, Cher was told by multiple friends that Allman planned to divorce her. When she confronted Allman about it, the \u201cBelieve\u201d singer claimed he \u201clied and denied it.\u201d She filed for divorce<\/a> the following day.<\/p>\n

Allman subsequently checked into rehab and Cher turned to Bono, as the two exes remained friends after their split. When Allman asked Cher to visit him in rehab, Bono encouraged her to go. At the facility, Cher joined Allman for a therapy session where he opened up about feeling the \u201cpressure to be Mr. Cher.\u201d<\/p>\n

Following the breakthrough therapy moment, the pair reconciled<\/a> and ended up going to Jamaica for a \u201cbelated honeymoon.\u201d During the trip, Cher claimed that she witnessed Allman drinking rum and the twosome got into an intense argument. Cher ultimately left the vacation early.<\/p>\n

Not long after, Cher discovered that Allman was also a heroin addict and offered him an ultimatum to go to rehab again before their baby arrived.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t remember what date I\u2019d chosen exactly. It was something arbitrary,\u201d she wrote. \u201cI had had it with us repeating the same pattern again and again, and had told him over the phone, \u2018I\u2019m just so tired of doing this, Gregory. I\u2019m so tired of going to rehab with you.\u2019 He was quiet on the other end of the line. \u2018But I keep going,\u2019 he said softly. His answer stopped me in my tracks, because it was true. He kept going to rehab, kept trying to get clean, kept making an effort despite failing in the past. In that moment, instead of thinking of my own exhaustion, I empathized with him.\u201d<\/p>\n
