Gladiator II<\/em><\/a> director Ridley Scott<\/strong> is shutting down claims that a same-sex kiss was cut from the new movie.<\/p>\n

Denzel Washington<\/strong><\/a>, who plays power-hungry former slave Macrinus in the film, recently said he kissed a man on the lips<\/a>, but the moment did not make the final cut.<\/p>\n

\u201cNo, that\u2019s b\u2014\u2014t. It was a senator. They never did. They acted the moment and [it] didn\u2019t happen,\u201d Scott, 86, told Variety<\/em><\/a> on the red carpet at the Gladiator II<\/em> Los Angeles premiere on Monday, November 18.<\/p>\n

In an interview with Gayety<\/a> published on October 31, Washington, 69, said, \u201cI actually kissed a man in the film but they took it out, they cut it. I think they got chicken.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Oscar winner continued, \u201cI kissed a guy full on the lips and I guess they weren\u2019t ready for that yet. I killed him about five minutes later. It\u2019s Gladiator<\/em>. It\u2019s the kiss of death.\u201d<\/p>\n

However, speaking to Variety<\/em> on Monday night, Washington said the kiss was merely a \u201cpeck\u201d on the lips.<\/p>\n

\u2018It really is much ado about nothing,\u201d the actor said. \u201cThey\u2019re making more of it than it was. I kissed him on his hands, I gave him a peck and I killed him.\u201d<\/p>\n

Speaking to Variety<\/em> at the Governors Ball in Los Angeles on Sunday, November 17, producer Michael Pruss<\/strong> said of the scene: \u201cThere was so much stuff that was shot that didn\u2019t make it into the film. It was truly a non-event.\u201d<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, actress Connie Nielsen<\/strong>, who reprises her Gladiator<\/em> role as Lucilla, told the outlet that some of her scenes were also cut from the sequel.<\/p>\n
