Fans have theories about how NCIS: Origins<\/em><\/a> is building up to Lala\u2019s death \u2014 but Austin Stowell<\/strong> has another guess.<\/p>\n

\u201cI had a theory that I had expressed to people on set \u2014 and it\u2019s kind of been proven wrong already,\u201d Stowell, 39, exclusively told Us Weekly<\/em> about his thoughts on where Mariel Molino<\/strong>\u2018s character ends up. \u201cI thought that she was possibly related to Pedro Hernandez.\u201d<\/p>\n

Viewers who watched NCIS<\/em> before the prequel<\/a> know that Pedro killed Gibbs\u2019 (Stowell) wife and daughter. NCIS: Origins<\/em> picks up months later as Gibbs mourns his family<\/a> \u2014 and tries to track down the person responsible for their deaths.<\/p>\n

\u201c[I thought] that would be revealed at some point, creating all kinds of tension,\u201d Stowell noted. \u201cFor those who don\u2019t know, Pedro Hernandez is the one who killed my wife and daughter. So if [he was] related somehow [to Lala], that would be a big elephant in the room.\u201d<\/p>\n

Stowell\u2019s theory is one of many that have been shared since NCIS: Origins<\/em> premiered in October. The show seemingly depicted how Gibbs \u2014 a role originated by Mark Harmon<\/strong><\/a> on NCIS<\/em> \u2014 started working for NIS. Imagine everyone\u2019s surprise when the series premiere featured a voiceover from present-day Gibbs (Harmon) as he revealed that this wasn\u2019t his story \u2014 but Lala\u2019s.<\/p>\n

The cryptic statement combined with a comment Lala made about how Gibbs\u2019 inexperience in the field might get her killed has Us<\/em> worried<\/a>. Stowell, for his part, remained tight-lipped \u2014 mainly because he also doesn\u2019t know where the story is headed.<\/p>\n

\u201cSelfishly, I hope Lala doesn\u2019t go anywhere. Mariel has been a perfect scene partner. She\u2019s a wonderful human being. We\u2019ve become friends and I would hate to have her leave,\u201d he admitted. \u201cSo I really hope that that doesn\u2019t happen. I don\u2019t think the writers want her to go anywhere either. I hope not.\u201d<\/p>\n

Stowell joked that perhaps no one is safe on NCIS: Origins<\/em><\/a>, quipping, \u201cWe could go very Shakespearean with it and just start getting rid of everyone \u2014 Game of Thrones style. But it\u2019d be a real shame to lose [everyone].\u201d<\/p>\n

In addition to questions about Lala\u2019s future<\/a>, all anyone wants to know is whether Gibbs will get together with his coworker. Gibbs and Lala\u2019s chemistry has been undeniable but does that mean they will definitely be explored on the show?<\/p>\n

\u201cAt this point, we\u2019re still just months after Gibbs lost his wife and child. Even if those emotions are creeping in, he probably is quieting them and feeling as if he shouldn\u2019t have those feelings,\u201d Stowell explained to Us<\/em>. \u201cIf his wife and daughter were still alive, he would be with them. It is only because of their death \u2014 their murder \u2014 that he blames himself for that he\u2019s even in the position and interacting with the people he\u2019s with.\u201d<\/p>\n
