One glance at the platform\u2019s A-to-Z listing reveals that there are almost <em>too many<\/em> good movies on Hulu to choose from, and it can become a chore to figure out which to choose.<\/p>\n<p>After a deep dive into the Hulu archive (the Hu-chive?), we\u2019ve selected a top mix of classics, comedies, dramas, horror pictures, documentaries, and, importantly, a few titles that got overlooked upon their initial release. Dick (archival)<br \/><strong>MPA Rating<\/strong>: Not rated<br \/><strong>Rotten Tomatoes<\/strong>: 66%<br \/><strong>Metacritic<\/strong>: 62<\/p>\n<p class=\"paywall\">A gem awaiting rediscovery, this good-faith analysis of individuals who are convinced we live in a simulation is either an eerie exploration of insanity or the most important documentary you\u2019ll ever watch\u2026because <em>it\u2019s all true<\/em>. <strong>Rodney Ascher,<\/strong> whose previous work includes the <em>Shining<\/em>-obsessed <em>Room 237,<\/em> uses <em>The Matrix<\/em> as a touchpoint for this (expanding?) syndrome, and interviews his subjects virtually, using gaming avatars. Several (not all!) of the sequels and prequels to this movie are good, but no matter how many times you\u2019ve seen <em>Alien<\/em>, you will always find something new in it.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"paywall\">Beyond the Lights (2014)<\/h2>\n<p class=\"paywall\"><strong>Director<\/strong>: Gina Prince-Bythewood<br \/><strong>Genre<\/strong>: Romantic drama<br \/><strong>Notable Cast<\/strong>: Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Nate Parker, Minnie Driver<br \/><strong>MPA Rating<\/strong>: PG-13<br \/><strong>Rotten Tomatoes<\/strong>: 83%<br \/><strong>Metacritic<\/strong>: 73<\/p>\n<p class=\"paywall\">A classic showbiz romance updated for today (or 2014, but that\u2019s close enough), with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vanityfair.com\/hollywood\/2014\/10\/gugu-mbatha-raw-beyond-the-lights\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Gugu Mbatha-Raw<\/strong><\/a> as an R&amp;B\/pop sensation trapped by fame and <strong>Nate Parker<\/strong> as the hunky security guard\/would-be politician who first saves her life, then takes her heart. This is glossy soap opera filmmaking at its finest, with an extended sequence at a beachside hideaway that may have you hitting pause and heading to Travelocity. One of the better romantic movies to watch on Hulu.<\/p>\n<h2 class=\"paywall\">Blackberry (2023)<\/h2>\n<p class=\"paywall\"><strong>Director<\/strong>: Matt Johnson<br \/><strong>Genre<\/strong>: Comedy<br \/><strong>Notable Cast<\/strong>: Jay Baruchel, Glenn Howerton, Michael Ironside<br \/><strong>MPA Rating<\/strong>: R<br \/><strong>Rotten Tomatoes<\/strong>: 97%<br \/><strong>Metacritic<\/strong>: 78<\/p>\n<p class=\"paywall\">Canadian indie stalwart <strong>Matt Johnson<\/strong>, creator of marvelous mock-documentaries like <em>The Dirties<\/em>, <em>Operation Avalanche<\/em> and <em>Nirvanna the Band the Show<\/em>, tackles the rise and fall of the once-ubiquitous titular tech gadget in this hilarious boardroom comedy. <strong>Jay Baruchel<\/strong> is particularly spectacular as a brilliant and creative inventor pulled between his desire for perfection and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vanityfair.com\/hollywood\/2023\/07\/glenn-howerton-little-gold-men-blackberry-always-sunny-awards-insider?srsltid=AfmBOopoTQD6HgcTuWGH2_jIQ2tavoi_Iut_Fow6D9d1FuBJLtQwN0NS\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Glenn Howerton<\/strong>\u2019s<\/a> increasingly antic pursuit of money.
