Those streams went out to 60 million households globally, the group said in a press release shared with The Verge <\/em>via email. That\u2019s more than twice the traffic<\/a> Netflix could see for its Christmas Day NFL stream this year<\/a>, if everyone who watched last year<\/a> streamed it.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n That\u2019s also just a massive number of people streaming a single live event at the same time. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n The crush of people trying to watch the match seemed to be more than Netflix\u2019s servers could easily handle, as the social web was awash with complaints about the quality of the stream<\/a>, which many found to be muddy, or plagued with buffering and dropped connections. Downdetector recorded more than 100,000 complaints of Netflix streaming issues during the event, according to Bloomberg<\/em><\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n Netflix CTO Elizabeth Stone told employees that the company dealt with this \u201cunprecedented scale\u201d by prioritizing keeping the stream stable \u201cfor the majority of viewers,\u201d according to Bloomberg<\/em>\u2019s Mark Gurman. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n
