The Black Eyed Peas musician, 49, is said to be worth around $70 million partly due to his string of hits including \u2018Boom Boom Pow\u2019 and \u2018I Gotta Feelin\u2019\u2019, but has revealed he doesn\u2019t feel like he\u2019s \u201cmade it\u201d, partly as he\u2019s never put down permanent roots.<\/p>\n
He said at AfroTech conference in Houston: \u201cAs far as the idea of \u2018I made it\u2019, I don\u2019t think I made it, because every milestone takes me to the next milestone.<\/p>\n
\u201cI\u2019m making it. I\u2019ve never had a house. I bought myself a studio. I have my office, but I stay in a hotel. <\/p>\n
\u201cI don\u2019t have a house because I ain\u2019t bought the house that says \u2018I made it\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nBorn William James Adams Jr, the singer also stressed he grew up living in a South Los Angeles housing project.<\/p>\n
\nHe added: \u201cI remember my mom was like, \u2018Wait, put your clothes on. You go up here to get our food stamps. Sit in this line to get this cheese\u2019.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cWhen you are in a project, that\u2019s your reality. You come outside, your best friend that you grew up with is no longer with you because he got shot and you want to dream different \u2013 that\u2019s where I get ambition from.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nThe Black Eyed Peas are about to take up residency in Las Vegas and Will.i.am has added to his music fortune by investing in technology companies. <\/p>\n
\nHe is also the founder and CEO of Fyi.AI, a new messenger and tool for streamlining apps.<\/p>\n
\nWill.i.am said about the firm\u2019s service: \u201cYou don\u2019t need a thousand apps, especially when apps don’t talk to each other.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cWith FYI it\u2019s all in one place \u2013 your news, your calendar, your collaborative work. <\/p>\n
\n\u201cIt may sound like a foreign concept, but eventually it\u2019s going to be the system.\u201d<\/p>\n
