According to Hill, who is the director of the Lymphoid Malignancies Program at Cleveland Clinic, Coulier\u2019s form of cancer can have a \u201c90 percent cure rate.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat wouldn\u2019t be the total cure rate for this diagnosis. It would probably be more in the sort of 70 to 80 percent range on average,\u201d Hill exclusively told <em>Us Weekly<\/em> on Thursday, November 14. \u201cBut within that average, there are people who have more favorable and unfavorable features that could sort of have influenced that determination.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Hill defined non-Hodgkin lymphoma as \u201ca collection of different diagnoses that are characterized by an abnormal cancer cell in the lymphatic system, typically something called a B-cell.\u201d He noted that \u201cthere are many different kinds\u201d of lymphoma, which can affect how the illness is treated.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSome [diagnoses] are a little more aggressive and can make people sick quickly. Others are a little more slow-moving or indolent,\u201d he said. \u201cAnd so, there are very effective treatments for non-Hodgkin lymphoma and much of this depends on the specific diagnosis.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Coulier told <a href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/dave-coulier-non-hodgkin-lymphoma-exclusive-8743523\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>People<\/em><\/a> on Wednesday that he was diagnosed after his lymph nodes swelled as a result of an upper respiratory infection, with one area growing to the size of a golf ball. In Hill\u2019s opinion, the <em>Full House<\/em> alum could have \u201cdiffuse large B-cell lymphoma,\u201d the \u201cmost common\u201d form of the disease.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_3803822\" style=\"width: 900px;\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\">\n<div class=\"ratio-based-placeholder\" style=\"padding-bottom:159.85714285714%;\"><\/div><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\"><span class=\"caption\"><br \/>\n Dave Coulier.<\/span> <span class=\"credit\">Roger Wong\/INFphoto.com<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cThis is actually curable if that\u2019s the diagnosis in the sense that treatments, which are typically medications, chemotherapy, drugs that go throughout the body can eliminate, in many cases, all of the lymphoma in the body,\u201d he shared. \u201cThat doesn\u2019t always happen, and if it doesn\u2019t happen with the first try, there are still other treatments that can be effective in subsequent lines of therapy as well.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>During an appearance on the <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/TODAYshow\/status\/1856689431396204818\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Today<\/em><\/a> show on Wednesday, Coulier revealed that he\u2019s finished one round of chemotherapy and had three surgeries thus far. The Full House alum, 65, is currently undergoing treatment and hopes to be in remission when he completes his chemotherapy in February 2025. After a bone marrow test came back negative, Coulier said the recovery [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Hill confirmed that \u201cfive or six months\u201d of chemotherapy is common for patients with lymphoma, adding, \u201cFor a young person like him who\u2019s otherwise presumably healthy, those side effects are typically manageable. [In terms of next steps], he\u2019s in a complete remission. We would anticipate a full recovery.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He continued: \u201cFor most of these aggressive B-cell lymphomas, if we get into remission, that\u2019s usually going to stay there.
