As one of the highest rating sitcoms of all-time, Seinfeld<\/em> left a lasting legacy beyond its initial run.<\/p>\n

The \u201cshow about nothing\u201d, which was co-created by Jerry Seinfeld<\/strong> <\/a>and Larry David,<\/strong> starred Seinfeld in the lead role alongside Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Jason Alexander<\/strong> and Michael Richards<\/strong> and ran from 1989 to 1998.<\/p>\n

Given his instrumental role in the 90s sitcom, Seinfeld, 70, has long been outspoken against those who dare to criticize it. Us Weekly<\/em> takes a look at some of the times the comedian has hit back at those who took aim against his show.<\/p>\n

WFAN radio show, November 2024<\/b><\/h3>\n

When sports radio host Chris McMonigle<\/strong> joked about Seinfeld<\/em> having only a \u201cfew good\u201d episodes, little did he know the comedy\u2019s creator and lead star would be listening in\u00a0 \u2013 and the actor took things into his own hands to defend his show\u2019s honor.<\/p>\n

Calling up the radio show, WFAN, in November 2024, the actor told McMonigle<\/a> he was unfazed by his disparaging comments about the comedy series.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m not arrogant enough to think that everybody should like what I do,\u201d the comedian said over the airwaves. \u201cI just wanted to let you know it doesn\u2019t bother me. I\u2019m OK with it. One out of two is fine for me.\u201d<\/p>\n

Referencing the NFL\u2019s New York Giants, Seinfeld went on to joke, \u201cWell look, we made 180 episodes. Three good ones. We\u2019re like the Giants.\u201d<\/p>\n

The New Yorker, April 2024\u00a0<\/b><\/h3>\n

Seinfeld made headlines in April 2024 when he told The New Yorker<\/em><\/a> the 90s sitcom couldn\u2019t get away with some of the jokes that aired then, because they weren\u2019t politically correct and defended that style of comedy.<\/p>\n

Referencing a specific episode that featured Kramer (played by Richards), Seinfeld insisted the scenes wouldn\u2019t wash in 2024.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe did an episode of [Seinfeld] in the nineties where Kramer decides to start a business of having homeless people pull rickshaws because, as he says, \u2018They\u2019re outside anyway,\u2019\u201d he told the outlet. \u201cDo you think I could get that episode on the air today? \u2026 We would write a different joke with Kramer and the rickshaw today. We wouldn\u2019t do that joke. We\u2019d come up with another joke.\u201d<\/p>\n

AMA reddit, 2014<\/b><\/h3>\n

Like many finales of popular, long-running shows, a lot of viewers have strong views on whether they loved or hated how things wrapped up.<\/p>\n

Seinfeld was no different \u2013 its ending was polarizing for fans. However, Seinfeld defended the way things wrapped up when he was asked in a Reddit AMA session in 2014 if he was happy with the finale.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cI was happy with the Seinfeld<\/em> finale because we didn\u2019t want to do another episode as much as we wanted to have everybody come back to the show we had so much fun with,\u201d he wrote at the time, as reported by Digital Spy<\/em>. \u201cIt was a way to thank all of the people who worked on the show over the years that we thought made the show work. I don\u2019t believe in trying to change the past but I\u2019m very happy with it.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Larry King Show, 2007<\/b><\/h3>\n

Back in 2007, Seinfeld appeared on The Larry King Show<\/em> and was almost lost for words when host King, who died in 2021<\/a> aged 87, <\/b>questioned whether his show had been canceled.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou gave it up, right? They didn\u2019t cancel you? You canceled them?\u201d King asked.<\/p>\n
