Chicago Fire<\/a>, Chicago P.D.<\/a><\/em> and Chicago Med<\/em> <\/a>are reportedly set to film their first crossover episode in five years.<\/p>\n

According to a new report published by TVLine<\/em><\/a> on Wednesday, November 13, the One Chicago<\/em> franchise is planning a one-night crossover event, which is due to air later this season. The storyline will reportedly center around a massive explosion in an office building that will require the services of the city\u2019s fire, police and medical departments.<\/p>\n

There have been several crossover One Chicago<\/em> episodes in the past, with the last time occurring in 2019 before several factors including Covid as well as WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes make them logistically tricky to film.<\/p>\n

The last crossover involved a biological terrorism event that brought all the Chicago teams together to face off against.<\/p>\n

Miranda Rae Mayo, Patrick Flueger, Jessy Schram and more One Chicago stars exclusively dished to Us Weekly about their respective new seasons using just three words. (Some used more than four words, but we won\u2019t [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Speaking to Forbes<\/em> in 2019, Chicago Fire<\/em> executive producer Derek Haus shared insight into the planning for the crossover episode, titled \u201cInfection.\u201d<\/p>\n

He revealed the inspiration came about after the One Chicago<\/em> franchise\u2019s creator, Dick Wolf, injured his foot and it was on the verge of becoming infected.<\/p>\n

\u201cAt a kickoff dinner for this, Dick said, \u2018I want to do a biological weapon story, like a flesh-eating bacteria,\u2019 and I was like, \u2018Okkkaaay,\u2019\u201d Haas told the outlet. \u201cThen he said, \u2018What if it happens at a Bears game,\u2019 and I was like, \u2018What if we have a tailgate and we get characters from the three shows and this random guy is walking by and he falls and you realize, oh man, this guy\u2019s been attacked by something.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, stars of the respective One Chicago<\/em> shows spoke to Us Weekly<\/em> <\/a>in September about their latest seasons.<\/p>\n

Patrick Flueger, who plays Adam Ruzek in the series, shared his pride about Chicago P.D.\u2019s<\/em> season 12, which kicked off that same month.<\/p>\n

\u201cAfter last year, I feel like we put a button on certain story lines, and we kicked off something else,\u201d Flueger, 40, said. \u201cIt just feels like we\u2019re hitting the nail on the head right out the gate [and] that it\u2019s exciting.\u201d<\/p>\n
