The summaries appear as a \u201cKey Points\u201d box with bullets summarizing the piece. The Verge<\/em> spotted the test on a story<\/a> about Trump\u2019s plans for the Department of Education, and the Journal <\/em>confirmed it\u2019s trialing the feature to see how readers respond.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n The \u201cKey Points\u201d box has a message explaining that an \u201cartificial intelligence tool created this summary\u201d and that the summary was checked by an editor. The box also points to a page about how the WSJ<\/em> and Dow Jones Newswires use AI tools<\/a>. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n \u201cWe are always assessing new technologies and methods of storytelling to provide more value to our subscribers,\u201d Taneth Evans, head of digital at the WSJ<\/em>, says in a statement to The Verge<\/em>. \u201cTo that end, we are currently running a series of A\/B tests to understand our users\u2019 needs with regards to summarization.
