Vinnie Jones<\/a> claims his new girlfriend Emma Ford had a conversation with his late wife Tanya about their romance.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n
Vinnie Jones has opened up about finding love again after the death of his wife Tanya<\/p>\n
The footballer-turned-actor was left devastated when wife passed away aged 53 in 2019 after a battle with cancer and he went on to strike up a romance with his former assistant Emma several years later – and he’s now revealed Emma told Tanya she would “look after him”.<\/p>\n
He told The Sunday Times newspaper: “I mean \u2026 you know, um, it wasn\u2019t this big boom [when we fell in love], it was a steady burn …<\/p>\n
“She [Emma] said to me that she had had a chat with [late wife] Tanz and said, \u2018I\u2019m going to look after him for you.’ That was kind of a defining moment for me.” <\/p>\n
Vinnie went on to reveal he spent a long time wallowing in grief following Tanya’s death, but he later determined he needed to move on with his life because she wouldn’t have wanted him to be alone forever and he’s now “at peace”.<\/p>\n
\nHe added: “I don\u2019t believe in moving on. I believe in moving forward … In grief, we\u2019re so upset because you only remember all the good things. That\u2019s your mind telling you that. Because it wants you to be unhappy; it wants you to be sad. It doesn\u2019t want you to go on a date or have a wonderful time. <\/p>\n
\n“So the f****** guilt – you\u2019re feeling guilty all the time. But you\u2019ve got to tell your brain, \u2018Wait a minute, it wasn\u2019t all roses and bells. Sometimes there were bad arguments’.<\/p>\n
\n“So what I try to do is tell my brain, \u2018We\u2019re good now,\u2019 because I\u2019m not going to feel sorry for myself. The way she\u2019s looking down on us and feeling about us, and the way I\u2019m feeling back, and the way I\u2019m conducting myself here now – yeah, I\u2019m at peace. <\/p>\n
\n“Because does she want you to be on your own? No, because you\u2019re not going to be happy. Human beings, most human beings, are supposed to be with somebody. It\u2019s the breed we are. It\u2019s like the swan. That\u2019s nature. That\u2019s how it\u2019s supposed to be.”<\/p>\n
\nVinnie – who married Tanya in 1994 – previously admitted he worried he would never get over her death.<\/p>\n
\nHe told New Zealand’s Stuff.co.nz: “[Grief] is a ghost … It\u2019s a blanket. It wraps around you and it pulls you down. You don\u2019t know when it\u2019s going to happen, why it happens. It just happens. <\/p>\n
\n“You’ve got to try and get your head above water, breathe in as long as you can because you know you\u2019re going to be pulled under again. My spirit may be broken inside, but I think I\u2019ve got enough knowledge and enough experience to cope with it.”<\/p>\n
