Outer Banks<\/em><\/a> showed Sarah telling John B about her pregnancy at the end of season 4 \u2014 but how would her ex-boyfriend Topper react to the news?<\/p>\n

During an exclusive interview with Us Weekly<\/em> following the season finale on Thursday, November 7, Austin North<\/strong> revealed whether his character will officially let go of his feelings for Sarah (Madelyn Cline<\/strong>) now that she\u2019s expecting a baby<\/a> with John B (Chase Stokes<\/strong>).<\/p>\n

\u201cWe would hope that this is the final nail [in the Topper and Sarah coffin] and that\u2019s it,\u201d North, 26, told Us<\/em>. \u201cIf anything, [Topper] just wants the best for [Sarah]. He just wants to see her safe and happy.\u201d<\/p>\n

North pointed out that Topper\u2019s concern comes from Sarah<\/a> always being involved in high-stake adventures. \u201cHe just continuously sees her get in these dangerous situations and it\u2019s all because of the Pogues and getting wrapped up in that lifestyle,\u201d he added. \u201cI think people think Topper is more like, \u2018Oh, don\u2019t hang out with the Pogues because of where they are from.\u2019 But it\u2019s more about how Sarah is risking her life all the time.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ahead of season 5 \u2014 which will be the Netflix series\u2019 last \u2014 North expressed hope that Sarah\u2019s pregnancy will convince her<\/a> to slow down.<\/p>\n

\u201cEspecially now that there\u2019s a kid involved, Topper more or less just wants her to be safe and find a more calm and normal life,\u201d he added before recalling his initial reaction to the Sarah and John B story line. \u201cSarah getting pregnant is definitely a curveball. And it is right in the middle of the treasure hunt, too. It\u2019s like, \u2018All right, perfect timing.’\u201d<\/p>\n

When Outer Banks premiered in 2020, Sarah and Topper were in a relationship. That quickly went downhill when Sarah noticed a spark between her and John B<\/a> \u2014 and chose to pursue it. Topper later made his issues with all of the Pogues quite clear amid Sarah\u2019s romance with John B.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn season 4, some time has passed and Topper is trying to get over his love for Sarah. He\u2019s trying to move on,\u201d North said about Topper\u2019s season 4 arc. \u201cHe\u2019s got a new girlfriend, Ruthie (Mia Challis<\/strong>), and she\u2019s probably not the best influence on him. I don\u2019t know if she\u2019s the best fit for him, but he\u2019s trying to move on.\u201d<\/p>\n

Topper\u2019s attempts to move forward don\u2019t keep him from forgetting<\/a> the past, however.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tOuter Banks fans have watched the cast change on and off screen since the series first debuted. The hit Netflix series, which premiered in 2020, introduced viewers to a coastal town in the Outer Banks of North Carolina, which is divided into wealthy and working-class sides. Meanwhile, a group of teenagers accidentally find themselves at [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201c[His behavior throughout season 4] makes sense. It makes sense mainly because Topper has become the bigger person, which is seen in episode 4 on the beach [before the argument with the Pogues]. That\u2019s just an example of that maturity and that Topper doesn\u2019t really want to start some drama,\u201d North noted to Us<\/em>. \u201cThat was a big moment for him. But then JJ [Rudy Pankow<\/strong>] cuts him off out in the surf break, and that paired with Ruthie egging him on led him to getting roped into stuff that he\u2019s not interested in getting involved in.\u201d<\/p>\n

The actor continued: \u201cAll this stuff brings back these emotions to Topper to where he wants to go after the Pogues. He wants to go after Poguelandia and take it from them. I think anytime he sees Sarah \u2014 and sees Sarah with John B \u2014 it brings up the past. \u2026 Any moment he gets to mess with the Pogues [is interesting] and he has a fair reason. John B took his girl and Pope [Jonathan Daviss<\/strong>] sunk his boat and there\u2019s beef that is always going to be there.\u201d<\/p>\n
