Hugh Grant<\/strong><\/a> just hilariously poked fun at his former onscreen nemesis, Colin Firth<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

When asked by Vanity Fair<\/em><\/a> to describe his \u201cidea of perfect happiness\u201d in an interview published on Thursday, November 7, Grant, 64, hilariously replied: \u201cDrinking a pint of London Pride while munching Twiglets and reading about Colin Firth having a critical and box office catastrophe.\u201d<\/p>\n

Grant and Firth, also 64, famously starred as Ren\u00e9e Zellweger<\/strong>\u2019s rivaling love interests in 2001\u2019s Bridget Jones\u2019s Diary<\/em> and its 2004 sequel, Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason<\/em>. Both movies saw Zellweger\u2019s titular character caught in a complicated love triangle between Grant\u2019s Daniel Cleaver and Firth\u2019s Mark Darcy \u2014 resulting in two iconic and amusing fight scenes between the male leads. (Grant did not appear in the series\u2019 third film, 2016\u2019s Bridget Jones\u2019s Baby<\/em>.)<\/p>\n

Grant\u2019s recent comments are the not the first jabs he\u2019s publicly taken at Firth. During the 2003 premiere of their film Love Actually<\/em>, Grant interrupted one of Firth\u2019s interviews<\/a> by yawning behind his back. \u201cSorry. Go on with your very interesting answer,\u201d he quipped before going on to praise his fellow actor.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tTo Bridget, who cannot cook! Bridget Jones\u2019s Diary was a huge hit when it debuted in April 2001 \u2014 and its stars have only kept rising. Ren\u00e9e Zellweger, who played the titular diarist, had already turned in critically acclaimed performances in films including Jerry Maguire and Nurse Betty, but Bridget Jones\u2019s Diary arguably made her [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cI\u2019m never very kind about Colin, but if truth be told, he\u2019s just about the only actor in the world I genuinely like and admire,\u201d Grant gushed.<\/p>\n

In 2022, the faux frenemies went viral after Grant sponsored a chair at that year\u2019s BAFTAs with a plaque that read<\/a>: \u201cIn loving memory of Colin Firth. Not dead yet, but looks like it. Sponsored by Hugh Grant.\u201d<\/p>\n

Grant \u2014 whose new thriller Heretic<\/em> hits theaters on Friday, November 8 \u2014 is set to reprise his role as Daniel in the upcoming fourth Bridget Jones<\/em> installment, titled Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy<\/em><\/a>. The film is set to follow the events of author Helen Fielding<\/strong>\u2019s book of the same name, which picks up with Bridget as a single mother following the unexpected death of Mark.<\/p>\n

It has not been confirmed whether Firth will appear in the film, though photos and video obtained by The Daily Mail<\/em><\/a> in July showed the Oscar winner on set filming a scene with Zellweger, 55.<\/p>\n

While fans will have to wait to find out Mark\u2019s fate, Grant revealed in a September interview with Vanity Fair<\/em><\/a> that the film\u2019s script made him \u201ccry.\u201d<\/a> He shared: \u201cI wanted to help with this one. But really there\u2019s no part for Daniel Cleaver in it at all. They wanted him in it, and in the end, they\u2019d done something I wasn\u2019t crazy about.\u201d<\/p>\n
