For the better part of this year, Project 2025 has been a catchall among Democrats for the threat former President Donald Trump poses to American society. The more than 900-page Mandate for Leadership<\/em>, crafted by conservative think tank the Heritage Foundation, is a sprawling and often contradictory mix of ideas from more than 100 organizations. It\u2019s tied together not by unified policy predictions but by a series of preoccupations: China; \u201cwokeness\u201d; climate denialism; and a commitment to gutting or abolishing federal agencies. It includes plans that would remake America\u2019s approach to technology, but like many things in the document, its authors can\u2019t exactly agree on how. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n Trump has attempted to distance himself from the policy plan, but it\u2019s tied to him by numerous threads. His running mate, JD Vance, is friends with Kevin Roberts, the president of the Heritage Foundation, and Vance even wrote the introduction to Roberts\u2019 forthcoming book, Dawn\u2019s Early Light<\/em>. (The book\u2019s publication, initially slated for September, was postponed until after the election<\/a>.) And some of Project 2025\u2019s chapters were written by Trump\u2019s own former administration officials, including FCC commissioner Brendan Carr and Department of Homeland Security official Ken Cuccinelli.\u00a0<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
