A special fictional bond. From The CW\u2019s Riverdale<\/em><\/a> to Netflix\u2019s Stranger Things<\/em><\/a>, viewers have witnessed many memorable TV sibling bonds<\/a> over the years.<\/p>\n Stranger Things<\/em>, which debuted in 2016, explored Jonathan Byers\u2019 (Charlie Heaton<\/strong><\/a>) search for his younger brother, Will Byers (Noah Schnapp<\/strong><\/a>), in the first season. As the hit Netflix series approached its final episodes, the brothers grew even closer when Jonathan comforted Will following his emotional moment<\/a> with Mike (Finn Wolfhard<\/strong><\/a>).<\/p>\n Schnapp later revealed that Will almost didn\u2019t have the season 4 conversation \u2014 which\u00a0hinted at his character\u2019s sexuality <\/a>\u2014 with Jonathan onscreen. \u201cSo this scene was actually not originally written in the script. It was only until after I did the scene of me in the van, where they saw me crying and the protectiveness that you see with Jonathan looking in the rearview mirror,\u201d he told Variety<\/em> in July 2022. \u201c[The Stranger Things<\/em> writers] were like, \u2018We need a scene with that.’\u201d<\/p>\n The actor continued: \u201cSo they wrote it as we were filming. It\u2019s also very important for people to see that Will is not alone \u2014 because all we ever see of him is struggling and feeling depressed and that he can\u2019t be himself. Jonathan is talking to him in code \u2014 it\u2019s just the perfect way to tell someone like Will that he cares about him and he accepts him no matter what. I think it was really wholesome.\u201d<\/p>\n Meanwhile, Riverdale<\/em> threw some major obstacles<\/a> at the Blossom twins when the 2016 pilot kicked off with Jason\u2019s (Trevor Stines<\/strong><\/a>) disappearance. His twin sister, Cheryl (Madelaine Petsch<\/strong><\/a>), later discovered that he died before getting to run away<\/a> from the small town.<\/p>\n After fans questioned Cheryl and Jason\u2019s very close bond ahead of his death, Petsch set the record straight about the pair.<\/a><\/p>\n \u201cThe word \u2018twincest\u2019 has been thrown around a lot,\u201d she shared with Teen Vogue<\/em> in 2017. \u201cThe way that I rationalized it was that it\u2019s very clear that she grew up in a very, very dark family. The only light that she had was Jason, the only love that she ever felt was Jason. Her parents never really showed her love, they didn\u2019t really care about her, she turned to Jason for everything. The loss of him hurt her so badly, he was her person.\u201d<\/p>\n Ahead of the CW show\u2019s seventh and final season, Riverdale took the characters back to the 1950s<\/a> \u2014 and introduced Nichola Barasch<\/strong> as Julian Blossom<\/a> in this version of the story. In May 2023, Barasch praised Petsch for her help transitioning to set as her onscreen sibling.<\/p>\n \u201cThe first week after we met each other and we hugged and she said, \u2018Hey brother\u2019 and I said, \u2018Hey sister.\u2019 She gave me some insight into Julian and that he was a doll and \u2014 I was aware of some of it, but she was filling me in on some of those details,\u201d he told Decider<\/em>. \u201cAnd, you know, possibly consumed Julian in the womb when Jason was alive and now, I guess the opposite is true \u2026 I had to kind of learn by being there.\u201d<\/p>\n
