Tara Reid<\/strong><\/a> is feeling \u201clike a whole different person\u201d after getting a smile makeover \u2014 which she has been wanting for years.<\/p>\n\u201cWhen I was younger as a kid, I lived in New Jersey and my parents had a boat in the marina and in the marina we had this gym. There was a lot of amenities, and I used to work out all the time,\u201d Reid, 48, exclusively told Us Weekly<\/em> on Thursday, October 3, recalling how she \u201cput a metal plate\u201d from one of the machines over her face because a boy at the gym thought it would be funny.<\/p>\nThe \u201cbad\u201d accident occurred when Reid was around 12 years old, and she tried a few different solutions before her recent procedure. \u201cWe had the veneers around it, but they never fit right,\u201d she explained. \u201cThey never looked right and they made me insecure a lot.\u201d<\/p>\n
Several years later, Reid finally found the right treatment thanks to Dr. Charles Glaser<\/strong> of Apa Aesthetic Los Angeles. She had 10 hand-layered porcelain veneers placed on both her upper and lower teeth to help improve jaw function and correct misaligned teeth while restoring her smile and aiding oral health.<\/p>\n\u201cYou\u2019re never fully dressed without a smile, so I feel great,\u201d she gushed to Us.<\/em> \u201cI feel younger. I feel better.\u201d<\/p>\nReid explained that she doesn\u2019t regret her choice to get the procedure done later in life, saying that it \u201cfell [into] the right hands\u201d when she connected with Apa Aesthetic.<\/p>\n
\u201cAt the end of the day, I think the most powerful thing you could possibly do is smile. When I see someone smile, it makes me glow, so [I\u2019m glad] I got the opportunity to work with them, especially Dr. Charlie over here,\u201d she shared. \u201cI\u2019m still having the best experience with them. \u2026 They care. They\u2019re just amazing people.\u201d<\/p>\n
It didn\u2019t take long for Reid to notice a shift in her confidence following her procedure \u2014 and even her friends have seen the difference.<\/p>\n
\u201cLast night, it was my friend\u2019s birthday, so I went out to see them. Everyone \u2014 they didn\u2019t know I got my teeth done \u2014 and they\u2019re like, \u2018Tara, you look so good. Did you do something?\u2019\u201d she shared with Us.<\/em> \u201cI\u2019m like, \u2018I got my teeth done!\u2019 and everyone goes, \u2018Wow!\u2019 \u2026 Not one person I was around didn\u2019t notice and it made me feel special. \u2026 I can\u2019t stop smiling. I\u2019m really happy.\u201d<\/p>\nReid explained that there\u2019s a new \u201cenergy\u201d she has when she smiles now that feels like \u201ceverything\u201d to her.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou have no idea what a smile can make you feel like. \u2026 That\u2019s kind of my personality, and now I feel like I could take it out even more, which is fun,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n<\/div>
Apa Aesthetic<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\nThe decision was one made completely for herself. \u201cThe only one that\u2019s looking at themselves in the mirror every day is really you, and if you\u2019re not satisfied with the way you look, it doesn\u2019t matter what anyone else sees,\u201d she continued. \u201cYou have to be satisfied [with] yourself, and that\u2019s what gives you confidence.\u201d<\/p>\n
Post-makeover, Reid is planning to focus more on acting, including one project that centers around mental health \u2014 which Reid feels a \u201cbit different\u201d about.<\/p>\n
\u201cI take all the serious situations in my life \u2026 [and] kind of keep [it] in storage. When I tap into it \u2026 I can pull it out completely,\u201d she explained to Us<\/em>. \u201cWhen I\u2019m working, I\u2019m acting, I\u2019m challenging so many different things and it\u2019s my release.\u201d<\/p>\nReid can relate to the toll of insecurities and criticism on mental health, but there wasn\u2019t \u201cnecessarily\u201d one person she turned to for advice before gaining back her confidence with her new smile.<\/p>\n
