Can you feel it? There\u2019s a slight chill in the air, the Sun is retiring earlier, and the leaves are beginning to change (at least in my Midwestern city). We\u2019re wading right into the time of year when everyone starts posting the vampire Kermit the Frog meme<\/a> to show how ready they are for Halloween. I\u2019m even starting to eye that Shudder re-subscribe button.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n October has its own vibe at the cinema, and theatrical releases this month include Operation Blood Hunt<\/em><\/a>, <\/em>a movie about 1944 special forces fighting werewolves in the Pacific theater, and <\/em>Seven Cemeteries<\/em><\/a>, a Danny Trejo-starring film about a guy who hires a witch to resurrect his posse to save a woman\u2019s ranch. And let\u2019s not forget Rumours<\/em><\/a>, <\/em>which I\u2019m very excited for. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n So I\u2019ve got a couple of this week\u2019s scary movie trailers for you to check out below, along with two streaming series. Enjoy!<\/p>\n<\/div>\n 1922\u2019s Nosferatu: A Symphony of Horror <\/em>was a Dracula<\/em> movie in all but name. So much so that Bram Stoker\u2019s heirs got a court order<\/a> to have the movie\u2019s copies destroyed, yet some copies survived. Now, over 100 years after its release, Nosferatu<\/em> is getting a remake<\/a> starring Bill Skarsg\u00e5rd as the vampire Count Orlok, AKA Nosferatu. Lily Rose-Depp and Willem Dafoe also star. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n The newest trailer does a great job setting up the atmosphere of terror that the townsfolk feel toward Count Orlok, but Focus Features isn\u2019t showing us Orlok himself quite yet. Nosferatu<\/em> hits theaters on December 25th.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n I don\u2019t know what the heck is going on with Warner Bros.\u2019 Companion<\/em>. The teaser for this Drew Hancock-directed movie starts with a head fake, making you think it\u2019s a love story. Then it quickly devolves into what looks like a thriller about a woman (Sophie Thatcher) being held captive by a man (Jack Quaid). <\/p>\n<\/div>\n I think that\u2019s a head fake, too. There\u2019s a bizarre moment, at the end of the trailer, where Thatcher\u2019s character holds an unshaking hand over a candle until her arm catches fire. She\u2019s crying, so she clearly feels pain, but the movie\u2019s classification \u2014 it\u2019s a sci-fi thriller<\/a> \u2014 makes me wonder what\u2019s going on underneath. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n I hoped that by texting the number in the description on the trailer\u2019s YouTube page I would glean a little more. It involves a questionnaire to \u201cFind Your Companion today\u201d that includes a request for a selfie. I got this at the end: <\/p>\n<\/div>\n That didn\u2019t answer any questions for me, but at least I\u2019ll be getting marketing texts now. Anyway, Companion <\/em>hits theaters on January 10th next year.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Three years after the first hit season of Squid Game<\/em> ended and spawned a reality show spinoff<\/a>, the Netflix show is returning with its second season<\/a> on December 26th. A new teaser this week showed Gong Yoo\u2019s Salesman preparing for work (and probably to do some slapping). It ends with him talking directly to the camera as he asks \u201cSir, would you like to play a game with me?\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\nCompanion<\/h3>\n<\/p>\n
