Suni Lee<\/strong><\/a> broke her silence on MyKayla Skinner<\/strong><\/a>\u2019s controversial comments about the 2024 USA women\u2019s gymnastics team at the Paris Games, when she questioned their \u201cwork ethic.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cWe have a lot of love for [MyKayla], but it\u2019s frustrating to see her put us down because she knows, basically, about every single thing that we\u2019ve all been through,\u201d Suni, 21, told Glamour<\/a><\/em> in a story published Thursday, October 3. \u201cIt was more annoying because of all the things that I\u2019ve been through.\u201d<\/p>\n In June, MyKayla, 27, uploaded a since-deleted YouTube video of herself critiquing the performances at the 2024 Olympic Trials<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cI mean, obviously, a lot of girls don\u2019t work as hard. The girls just don\u2019t have the work ethic. A lot of girls don\u2019t work as hard,\u201d she said at the time, clarifying that she did not include Simone Biles<\/strong> in her argument. \u201cIt\u2019s hard too because of SafeSport. Coaches can\u2019t get on athletes which in some ways is really good but at the same time, to get to where you need to be in gymnastics you do have to be \u2026 a little aggressive, a little intense.\u201d<\/p>\n Suni and MyKayla competed together at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics when MyKayla filled in for Simone, 27, on vault after she took herself out of the competition due to suffering from The Twisties. MyKayla took home a silver medal for her individual vault performance.<\/p>\n Simone shaded MyKayla<\/a> after she and fellow Team USA gymnasts Suni, Jordan Chiles<\/strong>, Jade Carey<\/strong> and Hezly Rivera<\/strong> took home the gold in the women\u2019s gymnastics team final. The Texas native shared sweet celebratory photos with her teammate with a spicy caption.<\/p>\n \u201cLack of talent, lazy, Olympic champions,\u201d Simone captioned the July 30 post<\/a>.<\/p>\n Suni, one of the few teammates to comment on the post, wrote, \u201cPut a finger down if Simone Biles just ended you,\u201d alongside a hand emoji with all five fingers.<\/p>\n Simone and Jordan, 23, confirmed that McKayla blocked Simone<\/a> one day after sharing the post, and MyKayla broke her silence<\/a> one week later.<\/p>\n \u201cI sincerely hoped that this topic wouldn\u2019t need to be revisited, but unfortunately, things have really gotten out of hand lately,\u201d MyKayla said via Instagram on August 6. \u201cAnd it\u2019s one thing to disagree with me regarding something I have said or a point I was trying to make, but it\u2019s something else entirely when that turns into cyber bullying or even worse. Watching people cheer on the bullying \u2014 which has led to threats of physical harm to me, my husband and our daughter \u2014 is disgusting. So please at this point, I\u2019m just asking for it to stop for the sake of my family because enough is enough.\u201d<\/p>\n MyKayla went on to share how \u201cheartbroken\u201d she was that Simone may have believed she thought their teammates were \u201clazy\u201d \u2013 before urging her to end the feud.<\/p>\n \u201cPlease ask your followers to stop. You have been an incredible champion for mental health awareness and a lot of people need your help now. We\u2019ve been attacked in ways that I\u2019m certain you never intended,\u201d she continued later in the video. \u201cYour performance, the team\u2019s performance and the Olympics in general should be a time that we support one another.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
