She recently visited <a href=\"https:\/\/socialitelife.com\/tag\/erik-menendez\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Erik<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/socialitelife.com\/tag\/lyle-menendez\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Lyle<\/a> in prison, and her words paint a different picture than what we&#8217;ve heard before.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have spent time with Lyle and Erik; they are not monsters,\u201d Kardashian wrote in her <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/news\/kim-kardashian-free-menendez-brothers-rcna173638\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/news\/kim-kardashian-free-menendez-brothers-rcna173638\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">NBC News<\/a> op-ed. It&#8217;s a bold statement, considering their life sentences for murdering their parents back in 1989.<\/p>\n<p>What struck me was her mention of a warden&#8217;s comment. \u201cOne of the wardens told me he would feel comfortable having them as neighbors,\u201d she shared. It&#8217;s not often you hear that about convicted murderers.<\/p>\n<p>Kardashian described them as \u201ckind, intelligent and honest men,\u201d highlighting their work with elderly inmates. Courtesy of Netflix \u00a9 2024<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>She raised an interesting point about how times have changed. \u201cHad this crime been committed and trialed today, I believe the outcome would have been dramatically different \u2026 I also strongly believe that they were denied a fair second trial,\u201d she said, referring to their 1996 sentencing.<\/p>\n<p>Her words about the lack of support for male abuse survivors back then hit home. \u201cBack then, there were limited resources for victims of sexual abuse, particularly for boys. There were virtually no systems in place to support survivors, and public awareness of the trauma of male sexual abuse was minimal, often clouded by preconceived judgments and homophobia,\u201d Kardashian continued. \u201cCan anyone honestly deny that the justice system would have treated the Menendez sisters more leniently?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s a perspective that makes you pause and reflect.
