The creators of the hit television shows It\u2019s Always Sunny in Philadelphia<\/em> and Abbott Elementary<\/a><\/em> are finally giving fans what they\u2019ve wanted \u2014 a crossover episode.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s Always Sunny<\/em> star and co-creator Rob McElhenney<\/strong> took to social media on Thursday, October 3, to share a photo via X<\/a> where he, along with fellow Sunny<\/em> costar Charlie Day<\/strong>, posed with Abbott<\/em> star and creator Quinta Brunson<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

The photo, which seemingly confirmed a crossover episode is in the works for the two shows, was taken outside the Warner Bros. studio lot for Abbott, Variety<\/em> <\/a>reports.<\/p>\n

McElhenney went on to share another photo via X<\/a>, showing the star posing with Brunson, Day, as well as Sunny co-star Danny DeVito<\/strong> and Abbott co-stars Tyler James Williams<\/strong> and <\/span>William Stanford Davis<\/strong> (also known as the beloved Mr. Johnson).<\/p>\n

Last month, Brunson exclusively told Us Weekly<\/em> that the much-anticipated crossover episode for the ABC series is \u201cvery cool\u201d and \u201cunexpected.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI think that it\u2019ll be a delight to the audience of both shows,\u201d she told Us.<\/em> \u201cYou know, I think it\u2019ll be very exciting for the people who watch our shows and, if they watch one show and not the other, I think that\u2019s cool, too.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019ll make people interested in that show,\u201d she added. \u201cSo I think that\u2019s really cool. I\u2019m just excited about it and I think it\u2019s just a fun way to shake up TV.\u201d<\/p>\n

Abbott<\/em> premiered on ABC back in 2021, and follows elementary school teacher Janine Teagues (Brunson) and her colleagues (Williams, Lisa Anna Walter<\/strong>, Sheryl Lee Ralph<\/strong>, Janelle James<\/strong> and Chris Perfetti<\/strong>) as they navigate the highs and lows of working in an underfunded Philadelphia public school.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s Always Sunny<\/em> premiered on FX in 2005, and documents the debaucherous shenanigans of a group of narcissistic friends and Philadelphia bar owners, played by McElhenney, Day, DeVito, co-creator Glenn Howerton <\/strong>and\u00a0Kaitlin Olson<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

A crossover between the lovable, Office<\/em>-like Abbott and the boundary-pushing black comedy It\u2019s Always Sunny<\/em> might feel surprising to some, but both shows are set in Philadelphia, making a crossover episode more than feasible.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tWith countless episodes of television available to the public at all times, it is a major milestone when a show airs 100 episodes or more. Shows like Riverdale found that success by gaining an audience based on their connection to the Archie Comics. As Riverdale prepared to air its 100th episode, creator Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa noted [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Back in February, McElhenney first mentioned the possibility of a collaborative episode on X and when referencing the infamous \u201cWilly\u2019s Chocolate Experience\u201d disaster in Glasgow, Scotland.<\/p>\n

\u201cA lot of you are saying this feels like an episode of Sunny, but to me it feels more like an @alwayssunnt @AbbotElemABC crossover episode,\u201d he commented. Brunson then shared a screenshot of the post, writing: \u201cJust say the word @robmcelhenney. I love you guys.\u201d<\/p>\n

Of course, fans of both shows quickly ran to the comments section of McElhenney\u2019s post on Thursday to share their excitement.<\/p>\n
