Travis Kelce<\/strong><\/a>\u2018s character was finally introduced on Grotesquerie<\/em> \u2014 but who does he play?<\/a><\/p>\n

During the third episode, which aired on Wednesday, October 2, Lois (Niecy Nash<\/strong>) is leaving the hospital when she runs into an orderly.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cEd Lachlan. But you can call me Eddie,\u201d Kelce, 34, says as he introduces himself on the hit FX series. \u201cSomething tells me when you are done with your cigarette break, you will want to get out of here. But I don\u2019t blame you.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kelce\u2019s character continues to flirt with Lois while warning her that she shouldn\u2019t drive while drunk, adding, \u201cYou are oddly beautiful or beautifully odd. I can\u2019t figure it out but I sure want to. [That pick-up line works] only when it is true.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tIsaiah Vazquez\/Getty Images Travis Kelce has no plans to leave the NFL anytime soon, but he\u2019s already making major career moves off the football field. Fans have seen a different side of the Kansas City Chiefs tight end since he began hosting the \u201cNew Heights\u201d podcast with his brother, Jason Kelce, in 2022. Along with [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Ed warns Lois that he<\/a> is \u201cnot allowed out there\u201d before she leaves the hospital on her own. She later ends up in an accident while behind the wheel, which quickly reunites her with Ed. In a scene straight out of a rom-com, Ed then helps bust Lois out of the hospital and the pair drive away in a red convertible.<\/p>\n

It remains to be seen whether Ed is real<\/a> \u2014 or just a figment of Lois\u2019 imagination \u2014 as she continued to drink more and more in this week\u2019s episodes of Grotesquerie<\/em>. He reappears in the fourth episode to take Lois to an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting before sharing his own experience with substance abuse \u2014 and how he hit rock bottom. Lois subsequently asks him to look after her daughter later in the episode.<\/p>\n

Grotesquerie<\/em> marks Kelce\u2019s acting debut after he rose to stardom as a tight end for The Kansas City Chiefs. Kelce is also set to host Prime Video\u2019s upcoming game show Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity?<\/em><\/a> and has a role in Happy Gilmore 2<\/em>.<\/p>\n

Fans were initially given minimal information<\/a> about Kelce\u2019s involvement in the show.<\/p>\n

\u201cRight now, I\u2019m just taking it scene by scene and trying to make sure that I remember my lines. Like I said, I\u2019m very amaetur at this,\u201d Travis said on his and brother Jason Kelce<\/strong>\u2019s \u201cNew Heights\u201d podcast about the opportunity in May. \u201cHopefully I don\u2019t bomb this for [Ryan]. It sounds like everything is going as planned, and I can\u2019t thank him enough for just this opportunity because I\u2019m sure there\u2019s actors out there who have been in the acting world that would die for an opportunity to work with Ryan, and I\u2019m getting it in, really, my first gig ever. So it\u2019s pretty unique and pretty cool.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tWhile many TV shows have made household names out of their star players, occasionally showrunners have been able to corral some of Hollywood\u2019s biggest names to drop in for a surprising cameo during a complete episode or a single scene. Perhaps one of the most polarizing cameos belonged to Ed Sheeran on HBO\u2019s Game of [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Travis teased that he has a \u201cbig role\u201d in the show.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cThe biggest difference from being outside of the acting world and starting to get into it, is you\u2019re very much in tune with scenes. You don\u2019t want to get so much caught up with the lines, you want to be in the scene with whoever you\u2019re acting with, right?\u201d he added. \u201cI started off thinking, \u2018Man, just memorize your lines. Memorize your lines.\u2019 But [the] reality of things is you want to be able to take that scene from one point to the next and portray exactly what the scene\u2019s meaning is.\u201d<\/p>\n

Travis\u2019 Grotesquerie<\/em> costars had nothing but praise after working<\/a> with him. Micaela Diamond<\/strong> recalled the athlete coming in \u201cso game\u201d to work on the show, exclusively telling Us Weekly<\/em> in September, \u201cWe all were just like, \u2018Let\u2019s make a TV show.\u2019 That\u2019s something Niecy [Nash]<\/strong> said all the time. There\u2019s part of this that\u2019s just play. We\u2019re just playing and [Travis] can do that.\u201d<\/p>\n

Diamond called Travis a committed \u201cteam player\u201d on set<\/a>. \u201cThis was my first big TV show and also his,\u201d she added. \u201cSo we were in it together trying to soak up as much as we could and be inspired by the veteran actors around us and listen and respond.\u201d<\/p>\n
