Sabrina Carpenter feels \u2018so prepared\u2019 for fame<\/p>\n
The \u2018Nonsense\u2019 singer, 25, shot to fame as a teen starring in \u2018Girl Meets World\u2019, and has gone on to combine acting with her hit music career, which recently saw her perform at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards.<\/p>\n
She told Time magazine about how being a child star has helped her embrace the spotlight: \u201cI grew up watching those (MTV VMA) performances and being like, \u2018I want to do that\u2019.<\/p>\n
Sabrina added about her appearance at the event was \u201canother dream realised\u201d after thinking she would never make it to perform at the awards.<\/p>\n
She said: \u201cIt all just seemed so \u2013 not even out of reach, just like I had a different plan in my head of when it was all supposed to happen.”<\/p>\n
\nSabrina then told about how she is able to embrace fame: \u201cI feel so prepared for these moments. <\/p>\n
\n\u201cIf I was even 17 or 18, I think I would have been way, way more nervous and intimidated.\u201d <\/p>\n
\nShe added she \u201cliterally threw up\u201d when she found out she was going to be a musical guest on \u2018Saturday Night Live\u2019.<\/p>\n
\nAnd she said she\u2019d feel the same way if she could perform at the Grammy Awards.<\/p>\n
\nSabrina also reflected on how embracing her sexuality in her work has exposed her to similar criticism faced by Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera in their careers.<\/p>\n
\nWhen asked if she receives the same type of resistance as the two stars, she said, \u201cNo, I definitely get that as well\u2026 but you\u2019ll still get the occasional mother that has a strong opinion on how you should be dressing.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cAnd to that I just say, \u2018Don\u2019t come to the show\u2019, and that\u2019s OK.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cIt\u2019s unfortunate that it\u2019s ever been something to criticise, because truthfully, the scariest thing in the world is getting up on a stage in front of that many people and having to perform as if it\u2019s nothing. <\/p>\n
\n\u201cIf the one thing that helps you do that is the way you feel comfortable dressing, then that\u2019s what you\u2019ve got to do.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
