Adam Devine<\/strong><\/a> learned firsthand that \u201cdad weight is real\u201d during his wife Chloe Bridges\u2019 pregnancy with their son \u2014 and he\u2019s \u201cfinally\u201d shedding the excess pounds.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy gosh, what an uphill battle that was. I didn\u2019t even realize how plump I had gotten,\u201d Devine, 40, exclusively joked to Us Weekly <\/i>on Wednesday, October 2, while discussing his partnership with TurboTax<\/a>.\u00a0\u201cI looked like I was a blueberry about ready to pop. I was Violet from Willy Wonka <\/i>when she gets filled with all the liquid and then I grew a bad beard to cover up my neck fat at the end of last year.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to Devine, he felt \u201ca little ashamed\u201d by his weight gain and subsequently started overhauling his fitness and diet regimen.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019ve been just really watching what I\u2019m eating and working out like a maniac to try to get it off,\u201d the actor told Us<\/i>. \u201cI dropped like 20 or 25 pounds, something like that. So, it has finally been shed and I can breathe a sigh of relief. \u2026 I gained more weight than Chloe did and she had a baby<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n

Devine and Bridges, 32, announced her pregnancy in October 2023, later welcoming son Beau<\/a> in February 2024.<\/p>\n

Despite the stricter regime he has going now, Devine found it enjoyable to indulge in Bridges\u2019 pregnancy cravings.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was kind of fun [when] Chloe would get a hankering for pizza and I\u2019m like, \u2018Well, what if we do a little taste test and order pizza from three different spots?\u2019\u201d Devine quipped on Wednesday. \u201c[I\u2019d] be like, \u2018I don\u2019t know, Papa John\u2019s is pretty good in here.\u2019 Or, \u2018I dunno, this garlic crust on the Domino\u2019s, it has me going.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

With the excess pounds finally behind the comedian, Devine and Bridges are basking in baby bliss with Beau.<\/p>\n

The original Bellas \u2014 made up of Beca (Anna Kendrick), Aubrey (Anna Camp), Chloe (Brittany Snow), Fat Amy (Rebel Wilson) and more \u2014 cemented their place in viewers\u2019 hearts early on before adding new [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cIt was kind of what I expected. I think people try to scare you so much. They\u2019re like, \u2018Oh my gosh, your life is over. You\u2019ll never get to do anything ever,\u2019 and I think I was ready for that part of my life to be a little bit over,\u201d Devine said of first-time parenthood. \u201cI was ready to just be home and be a dad and not necessarily feel like I have to go out all the time. I\u2019m tired. I work a lot, so when I\u2019m off work, I used to feel like, \u2018Well, we should try to go do something.\u2019 Now, I\u2019m like, \u2018Let\u2019s do nothing. Let\u2019s stay at home with the baby.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

He added, \u201cI think, for my wife, it might be a little different because she is bearing the brunt of the parental responsibility right now because I\u2019m wrapping up The Righteous Gemstones<\/i> season 4 and I\u2019m working just 12\/14-hour days, 5-6 days a week. So she\u2019s doing a lot of it and I\u2019m really proud of how she stepped up to the plate. She\u2019s killing it.\u201d<\/p>\n

Having to work long hours away from home does make Devine feel certain levels of \u201cdad guilt.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cShe\u2019s been great of just going, like, \u2018Hey, you have to go to work. This is how it is,\u2019\u201d Devine mused of Bridges. \u201cWe both share that mentality of, like, \u2018Hey, when you got to work, you have to work\u2019 and the other person takes care of the life outside of work and she\u2019s been fantastic.\u201d<\/p>\n

One of Devine\u2019s recent projects is a commercial for TurboTax\u2019s \u201cBeat Your Price\u201d<\/a> campaign, which helps encourage tax filers to switch to TurboTax Full Service and receive a minimum of a 10 percent reduction in fees that they paid last season. In the ad spot, Devine created a \u201cTax Break Up\u201d jingle<\/a>.<\/p>\n
