Dakota Fanning feels she was asked \u2018super-inappropriate\u2019 questions as a child star<\/p>\n
The \u2018I Am Sam\u2019 star, 30, made her TV debut aged six in 2000 and has now told The Cut magazine she went through a disturbing phase when she was grilled about her life and fame as she grew up in the spotlight.<\/p>\n
She hit out: \u201cIn interviews at a young age, I remember journalists asking me, \u2018How are you avoiding becoming a tabloid girl?\u2019<\/p>\n
\u201cPeople would ask super-inappropriate questions. I was in an interview as a child and somebody asked, \u2018How could you possibly have any friends?\u2019<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s like, \u2018Huh?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n
\nAppearing to reference child stars in the past whose rough upbringings have shed light on how their lives were affected by fame, she added: \u201cI have a lot of compassion for people who have been made into examples. If society and the media hadn\u2019t played their part, who knows?\u201d<\/p>\n
\nBut she added about society: \u201cI don\u2019t think that it\u2019s necessarily connected 100 per cent to being in this business; there are other factors, too. <\/p>\n
\n\u201cI just didn\u2019t fall into it, and I don\u2019t know the exact reasons except that my family is comprised of very nice, kind, protective people.”<\/p>\n
\nDakota also credited her mother Hannah Joy Arrington with teaching her how to \u201ctreat other people\u201d and how to \u201ctreat myself\u201d \u2013 adding: \u201cShe was there every second.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nShe went on: \u201cI was always treated with respect. It was never, \u2018Bring the kid in! Get her out!\u2019 <\/p>\n
\n\u201cI wasn\u2019t working with people who treated me that way \u2013 I was being respected as an actor and as equal as you can be for that age.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nDakota added about feeling surrounded by negativity as she rose to fame: \u201cI\u2019ve definitely felt this kind of vibe from people almost wanting me to fail or something.<\/p>\n
\n\u201cIt makes you feel a little bit guarded. I\u2019m just living my life over here.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
