Tyra Banks<\/strong><\/a> has been known for her sassy attitude on shows like America\u2019s Next Top Model<\/em> and Dancing With the Stars<\/em>, but a source exclusively tells Life & Style<\/em> she\u2019s totally changed her ways and is more mellowed out as she embraces motherhood.<\/p>\n \u201cFor fans of her TV work, Tyra can appear to have a split personality \u2014 one that she flaunted on America\u2019s Next Top Model<\/em> and later on Dancing With the Stars<\/em><\/a>, where it sometimes looked like she relished delivering bad news<\/a> or lording over contestants with whatever authority she has,\u201d says a pal of the 50-year-old model.<\/p>\n \u201cBut in real life,\u201d the friend adds, \u201cmotherhood has totally changed Tyra.\u201d<\/p>\n The TV personality shares son York Banks Asla, 8, with ex-boyfriend Erik Asla<\/strong>. For years, she struggled with infertility and previously explained that she and Erik tried in vitro fertilization treatments, but it was not successful.<\/p>\n Finally having York, who was born via surrogate, really changed Tyra\u2019s life.<\/p>\n \u201cShe has learned to shut down that hard edge she had as a TV host and become a real human being around her family and close friends,\u201d the source says. \u201cThat\u2019s been a huge step for her, and she\u2019s way better off for it.\u201d<\/p>\n Adds the insider, \u201cIt\u2019s a little late in life to discover true humility \u2014 even Tyra recognizes that \u2014 [but] motherhood has finally made her into a truly self-aware person.\u201d<\/p>\n When Tyra and the Norwegian photographer \u2014 who split in October 2017 \u2014 decided to use a surrogate, the Tyra Banks Show<\/em> host admitted that she was nervous.<\/p>\n \u201cThere are so many stages,\u201d she told People<\/em><\/a> in 2018. \u201cIt\u2019s like, \u2018Okay, it\u2019s a healthy embryo.
