Anna Delvey<\/strong> <\/a>did not see her early Dancing With the Stars <\/i><\/a>elimination coming after initial heaps of encouraging praise.<\/p>\n

\u201cI thought, like, \u2018Well, they were building me up.\u2019 It\u2019s like, \u2018Well, only if you smile more, only if you do X, Y, Z, it\u2019s going to be so much better,\u2019\u201d Delvey, 33, recalled during the Saturday, September 28, episode of fellow DWTS <\/i>contestant Tori Spelling<\/strong>\u2019s \u201cMisspelling\u201d<\/a> podcast.<\/p>\n

Delvey added, \u201cIt felt like they put so much effort in trying to get me on the show and make me feel comfortable, just to eliminate me this early. I see it, yeah, like an attempt of an embarrassment for us to get eliminated before Eric [Roberts]<\/strong> or Reginald [VelJohnson]<\/strong> in a dancing competition. Even though in the end it\u2019s not that big of a deal.\u201d<\/p>\n

Delvey and Spelling, 51, alongside respective partners Ezra Sosa<\/strong> and Pasha Pashkov<\/strong>, were the first stars eliminated<\/a> from DWTS <\/i>season 33.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tEver since its debut, Dancing With the Stars has made headlines \u2014 sometimes for its eyebrow-raising casting. One of the most controversial decisions by ABC came ahead of season 28 in summer 2019 when Sean Spicer was announced as part of the cast. At the time, many celebrities reacted to the news about the former [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201cIt just felt a bit upsetting to me,\u201d Delvey said. \u201cIt felt like a waste of time for me to do all this for them to just discard me so easily. I know the show was very excited to have me on, but the large part of the audience is not the people who would usually be excited about me in general.\u201d<\/p>\n

She added, \u201cI never had high expectations for [the] show for myself.\u201d<\/p>\n

Delvey further revealed that she later faced a lot of \u201cnegativity\u201d during the first two weeks, adding that it felt like show fans \u201cjust decided to hate us.\u201d (Sosa, 23, previously revealed on a podcast earlier this month that he found Delvey sobbing backstage<\/a> after the first live show garnered negative fan reactions.)<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t think I\u2019ve done the worst job on the show,\u201d Delvey stressed, citing that she \u201cimproved\u201d between her two DWTS <\/i>routines. \u201cWe got eliminated and people who were, I think, below us got to stay on the show and makes it a bit sus for a show that\u2019s called Dancing With the Stars<\/i>, and not like Gossiping With the Stars <\/i>or Making Friends With the Stars.<\/i>\u201d<\/p>\n

According to Delvey, both she and Spelling were stronger dancers than Roberts, 68, and VelJohnson, 72. Spelling, however, was grateful for her transformative experience and didn\u2019t foster resentment<\/a> at the DWTS <\/i>team.<\/p>\n
