Kristen Bell<\/strong><\/a> and Adam Brody<\/strong><\/a>\u2018s onscreen chemistry is like no other.<\/p>\n

The duo star in Netflix\u2019s rom-com series, Nobody Wants This<\/em><\/a>, which hit the streaming platform in late September 2024. Along with Bell, sisters Erin Foster<\/strong> and Sara Foster<\/strong> serve as executive producers.<\/p>\n

In the show, Bell stars as Joanne, a podcaster producer and host who has a history of picking the wrong guys. For his part, Brody stars as Noah, a handsome rabbi she meets at a mutual friend\u2019s dinner party.<\/p>\n

While speaking to TV Line<\/em><\/a> ahead of the season 1 premiere, Brody \u2014 who has worked with Bell numerous times \u2014 addressed the pair\u2019s undeniable onscreen chemistry.<\/p>\n

\u201cI knew we had great chemistry. I knew how talented and fun she is,\u201d Brody told the outlet. \u201cBut it actually wasn\u2019t until I saw the first episode shortly thereafter, that I, like, saw the chemistry and said, \u2018Oh, OK, this is real.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Erin, whose life the series is loosely based upon, added, \u201cThey just have, like, unreal chemistry. It\u2019s crazy, because they\u2019re friends in real life. They don\u2019t have that chemistry off-camera. There\u2019s no, like, sexual tension on set, and then the camera goes, and it\u2019s like, \u2018Holy s\u2014!\u2019 It\u2019s really there.\u201d<\/p>\n

Costarring in Nobody Wants This<\/em> isn\u2019t the first time Bell and Brody have shared the screen together. The pair previously worked together on House of Lies<\/em>, Scream 4<\/em>, CHiPs<\/em> and Some Girl(s)<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou get incredibly familiar with someone on set within a few hours; if I sit here with you for three more hours, we\u2019re going to know each other pretty well and be comfortable,\u201d Brody said in a September 2024 interview with the Los Angeles Times<\/em><\/a>. \u201cIt\u2019s not like something that can\u2019t be acquired, but I do think having worked together before, knowing that we got along, knowing that we work well together \u2014 you know there\u2019s a high floor, if that\u2019s the phrase. Bell talked about the importance of eye contact when filming a rom-com like Nobody Wants This<\/em> in two separate interviews in September 2024.<\/p>\n

\u201cAdam can stare longingly into someone\u2019s eyes for an extended period of time \u2014 and so can I,\u201d Bell told Harper\u2019s Bazaar<\/em><\/a>. \u201cAnd not to burst everyone\u2019s bubble, but [the onscreen connection comes from] the math of that, the anticipation of that. If someone can hold it with you and you know that they can stay in that eye contact space, you are going to crack a lens.\u201d<\/p>\n

She told the L.A. Times<\/em>: \u201cAs a rom-com, and particularly this one that so often leans into just the eye contact and no dialogue, I know he has a mode where he can just stare deeply into somebody\u2019s eyes for an uncomfortable amount of time. I also have that mode. It\u2019s just a trick in the magician\u2019s bag. Some actors can do it, and some actors can\u2019t, in my opinion. I was like, \u2018Well, I know I can do it. \u201cI\u2019ve been a fan of Kristen\u2019s for a very long time. I think she\u2019s a flawless comedian and actor all around,\u201d Brody told the L.A. Times<\/em> in September 2024. \u201cI still can see you in modes I haven\u2019t even seen you in yet, but I know you know you can do it and I can picture it, because I think you\u2019re tonally very, very versatile.<\/p>\n

For her part, Bell gushed about knowing her costar\u2019s strengths and how he\u2019s able to play into them onscreen.<\/p>\n

\u201cI feel like I know Adam\u2019s zones, and I feel like that\u2019s because I have watched a lot of stuff he\u2019s been in. I\u2019m a big fan of his work,\u201d she told the L.A. Times<\/em> in September 2024, adding that her husband, Dax Shepard<\/strong>, has cast Brody in movies he\u2019s directed.<\/p>\n

She continued, \u201cI knew when I read the script, this had to be a person who led with charm and intelligence and vulnerability, and I just know he has those modes very easily.\u201d<\/p>\n

When asked about their characters\u2019 first kiss early on in the series, both Bell and Brody reflected on how they got the \u201cgreatest kiss of all time\u201d just right.<\/p>\n

\u201cI think what\u2019s clear to both of us is that the butterflies and the heart palpitations live in the anticipation \u2014 the lead-up is so much more romantic than the actual kiss,\u201d Bell told Harper\u2019s Bazaar<\/em> in September 2024, noting that the take that made it into the show \u201cwasn\u2019t scripted.\u201d<\/p>\n
