Absence Explained"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<\/p>\n<div>\n<p>Season 12 of <em>The Masked Singer<\/em> once again won\u2019t feature <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lifeandstylemag.com\/tags\/nicole-scherzinger-15296\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Nicole Scherzinger<\/strong><\/a>, who left the show after season 10 in 2023.\n<\/p>\n<h2>Why Did Nicole Scherzinger Leave \u2018The Masked Singer\u2019?<\/h2>\n<p>Nicole left <em>The Masked Singer<\/em> to star in London\u2019s West End revival of <strong>Andrew Lloyd Webber\u2019s<\/strong> <em>Sunset Boulevard<\/em>. The show opened in September 2023 for a 16-week limited run. She won Best Actress in a Musical at the 2024 Laurence Olivier Awards for her performance in the production.<\/p>\n<p>Since Nicole was working on <em>Sunset Boulevard<\/em> when season 11 of <em>The Masked Singer<\/em> was filming, she was unable to sit on the panel. In March 2024, it was announced that <em>Sunset Boulevard<\/em> would be transferring to Broadway in September 2024, with Nicole reprising her role.<\/p>\n<p>During her break between the West End production and rehearsals for her Broadway debut, Nicole spent the summer vacationing around the world with fianc\u00e9 <strong>Thom Evans<\/strong>. She also performed at various festivals amid her travels.<\/p>\n<p>Plus, in August 2024, Nicole was announced as a judge and mentor on the new Netflix series <em>Building the Band<\/em> alongside <strong>Liam Payne <\/strong>and<strong> Kelly Rowland<\/strong>. The show, which hopes to discover the next big musical group without the artists initially meeting face-to-face, is hosted by <strong>A.J. McLean<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c<em>Building the Band<\/em> is a brave and bold undertaking for all involved as we hand over power to the singers themselves to form their own band based on chemistry first,\u201d executive producer <strong>Cat Lawson<\/strong> said. \u201cWith looks out of the equation, can they create a deeper connection with their bandmates? With limited bands, there are difficult decisions and heart-stopping moments along the way, but ultimately the outcome is truly amazing, with bands forming who in my opinion are worthy of the very biggest stage!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>These prior commitments kept Nicole away from <em>The Masked Singer<\/em> for season 12.<\/p>\n<h2>Who Replaced Nicole Scherzinger on \u2018The Masked Singer\u2019?<\/h2>\n<p><strong>Rita Ora<\/strong> was Nicole\u2019s replacement on <em>The Masked Singer<\/em> for seasons 11 and 12. \u201cSo happy the secret is finally out,\u201d she said in September 2023. \u201cI\u2019m joining the @maskedsingerfox US! Can\u2019t wait to try and guess who\u2019s behind the mask with the other panelists.\u201d Rita previously served as a panelist on the U.K.\u2019s version of <em>The Masked Singer<\/em> for four seasons.<\/p>\n<p>The Australian singer\u2019s return to the panel for season 12 was confirmed in June 2024. However, Fox made it clear that casting decisions beyond season 12 had not been made yet, leaving the possibility open for Nicole to return.<\/p>\n<p>Prior to Nicole\u2019s hiatus from the show, she gushed over her position as a panelist. \u201cOh my gosh, I would love to [keep coming back], are you kidding me?\u201d she told <em>Entertainment Weekly<\/em> ahead of season 10. \u201cI love my [Masked Singer] family. And it\u2019s such a great job. Are you kidding? I love it.
