\t\t\t\t<\/p>\n Ryan Murphy<\/strong><\/a> is now responding to Erik Menendez<\/strong><\/a>\u2018s statement about Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story<\/em>.<\/p>\n If you don\u2019t know, the new iteration of Monsters <\/em>dropped on Netflix last week, and it follows the real life story of Lyle <\/strong>and Erik Menendez<\/strong>, two brothers who fatally shot their parents in their Beverly Hills home in 1989. Ryan <\/strong>is the co-creator, writer, and executive producer on the series.<\/p>\n Recently, Erik <\/strong>called out the show<\/a>, saying it\u2019s full of lies and suggested Ryan <\/strong>couldn\u2019t be so naive and inaccurate about the facts.<\/p>\n Keep reading to find out more\u2026<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n Ryan <\/strong>told ET<\/a>, \u201cI think it\u2019s interesting that he\u2019s issued a statement without having seen the show. It\u2019s really, really hard \u2014 if it\u2019s your life \u2014 to see your life up on screen.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cThe thing that I find interesting that he doesn\u2019t mention in his quote, is if you watch the show, I would say 60 to 65 percent of our show in the scripts and in the film form center around the abuse and what they claim happened to them. And we do it very carefully and we give them their day in court and they talk openly about it,\u201d Ryan <\/strong>added.<\/p>\n He said that looking at sexual abuse through a TV lens \u201ccan be controversial,\u201d and shared, \u201cIt\u2019s a \u2018Rashomon\u2019 kind of approach, where there were 4 people involved in that. Two of them are dead. What about the parents? We had an obligation as storytellers to also try and put in their perspective based on our research, which we did.\u201d<\/p>\n He also spoke to any undertones of incest between the brothers that might have been seen on screen. <\/p>\n \u201cIf you watch the show, what the show is doing is presenting the points of view and theories from so many people who were involved in the case,\u201d he added. \u201cDominick Dunne<\/strong> [a Vanity Fair<\/em> journalist] wrote several articles talking about that theory. We are presenting his point of view. And we had an obligation to show all of that and we did.\u201d<\/p>\n Netflix will soon be releasing a documentary with the Menendez <\/strong>brothers telling their full story.<\/a><\/p>\n <\/span><\/p><\/div>\n
