Former WWE<\/a> boss Vince McMahon<\/strong> is speaking out against a new Netflix documentary that explores his rise and fall.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t regret participating in this Netflix documentary. The producers had an opportunity to tell an objective story about my life and the incredible business I built, which were equally filled with excitement, drama, fun, and a fair amount of controversy and life lessons,\u201d McMahon, 79, shared via X<\/a> on Monday, September 23, ahead of the premiere of Netflix\u2019s six-part docuseries Mr. McMahon<\/em> on Wednesday, September 25.<\/p>\n

\u201cUnfortunately, based on an early partial cut I\u2019ve seen, this doc falls short and takes the predictable path of conflating the \u2018Mr. McMahon\u2019 character with my true self, Vince. The title and promos alone make that evident,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n

\u201cA lot has been misrepresented or left out entirely in an effort to leave viewers intentionally confused,\u201d the statement went on. \u201cThe producers use typical editing tricks with out of context footage and dated soundbites etc. to distort the viewers\u2019 perception and support a deceptive narrative.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tVince McMahon was the CEO and Chairman of the Board at World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) for decades before \u201cvoluntarily\u201d stepping down. McMahon, who was a former pro wrestler before taking over the WWE business, confirmed in June 2022 that he was resigning from his post while the company investigated misconduct claims against him. \u201cI have [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

McMahon concluded, \u201cIn an attempt to further their misleading account, the producers use a lawsuit based on an affair I ended as evidence that I am, in fact, \u2018Mr. McMahon\u2019. I hope the viewer will keep an open mind and remember that there are two sides to every story.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mr. McMahon<\/em> is described<\/a> by Netflix as an \u201cunflinching\u201d look at the controversial businessman\u2019s life and career, from taking over WWE from his father, Vincent J. McMahon<\/strong>, to his eventual exit from the company in January<\/a> amid a lawsuit from a former WWE employee accusing him<\/a> of \u201cphysical and emotional abuse, sexual assault and trafficking.\u201d<\/p>\n

Us Weekly<\/em> obtained documents<\/a> in January in which former WWE employee Janel Grant<\/strong> alleged that McMahon displayed an \u201cincreasing lack of boundaries\u201d after they met in 2019, claiming he would greet her \u201cin his underwear, touched her, repeatedly asked for hugs, and spent hours sharing intimate details about his personal life.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to Grant, McMahon \u201cpushed\u201d her to engage in a physical relationship in exchange for a job at WWE. Because she allegedly feared \u201cnegative consequences\u201d if she turned him down, she said she ultimately \u201c[succumbed] to the pressure.\u201d<\/p>\n

McMahon also allegedly shared sexually explicit photographs of Grant with other men within the WWE, had \u201cincreasingly depraved sexual demands\u201d and coerced her into having sex with other staffers at the company headquarters during working hours. This included WWE general manager John Laurinaitis<\/strong>, who was also named in the lawsuit along with the corporation as a whole.<\/p>\n
