Ezra Sosa<\/strong> tearfully defended convicted felon Anna Delvey<\/strong> after some critics panned her Dancing With the Stars <\/i><\/a>debut.<\/span><\/p>\n

The pro dancer, 23, shared his thoughts via TikTok<\/span><\/a> on Monday, September 23, revealing what happened behind the scenes of the ABC show\u2019s September 17 premiere in which he and Delvey, 33, hit the dance floor for the first time.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cDuring that whole day, it was just truly the best day ever,\u201d Sosa said. \u201cIn a sense, I felt so much love from literally every single person. Including [Delvey]. On my end, I was feeling so much positivity. On my partner\u2019s end, she wasn\u2019t receiving the same.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Sosa\u2019s eyes filled with tears as he went on to describe the \u201chardest part of my day\u201d: Delvey\u2019s reaction to criticism of her on the internet. Following their performance, \u201cShe was reading the comments and we couldn\u2019t find her,\u201d he said. \u201cWe finally found her in the bathroom. She was crying. I\u2019ve never seen her like that and it broke my heart. As her partner, I want to give her the best experience she possibly could [have]. And knowing that that\u2019s not the case, it really did break my heart.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tNo one was eliminated during the season 33 premiere of Dancing With the Stars, so 13 duos are still keeping their mirrorball trophy dreams alive. The stars danced to songs that they consider to be their personal anthems during the Tuesday, September 17, premiere episode, which meant that the musical selections ranged from pop to [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Delvey, who sported a bedazzled ankle monitor<\/span><\/a> to dance the cha-cha, was arrested in 2017 and indicted on multiple counts of grand larceny and misdemeanor theft. She was released from prison on parole in 2021 and was put under house arrest one year later after being taken into custody for overstaying her visa. (A New York<\/i> magazine profile about her was adapted for Netflix\u2019s 2022 series Inventing Anna<\/i>.)<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI know what she did was really controversial and was not right, and I can never justify that for her and for anyone in her life,\u201d Sosa acknowledged in his TikTok message. \u201cIt\u2019s really hard for me because this person that I truly am just falling in love with every day in rehearsal, isn\u2019t the person that everyone sees in the media. No one deserves the amount of hate that she\u2019s getting right now. She deserves a second chance.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Sosa concluded his post by saying that Delvey has \u201cstepped up the plate and I just cannot wait for y\u2019all to see how much she has improved.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The next episode of the new DWTS<\/i> season will air Tuesday, September 24. Delvey remains in competition along with rivals Tori Spelling<\/strong>, Ilona Maher<\/strong>, Phaedra Park<\/strong> and Jenn Tran<\/strong>, among other celebs.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
