Caitlin Clark<\/strong><\/a> was named the WNBA Rookie of the Year and her boyfriend, Connor McCaffery<\/strong>, had the perfect response.<\/p>\n

\u201cDuh,\u201d McCaffery, 26, wrote via Instagram Story<\/a>, to which he had shared the Indiana Fever\u2019s post announcing Clark, 22, as the Associated Press WNBA Rookie of the Year on Sunday, September 22, the same day she made her playoffs debut in Connecticut against the Sun. (The Fever lost to the Connecticut Sun 93-69.)<\/p>\n

As the No. 1 overall pick in the 2024 WNBA draft, the Fever guard was unanimously named the top rookie in the league by the Associated Press. Per the Indiana Fever<\/a>, Clark and Aliyah Boston<\/strong> are the only players for the team to ever be named AP Rookie of the Year.<\/p>\n

\u201cCaitlin is special. Everybody knows that. She\u2019s been special,\u201d Fever coach Christie Side<\/strong>s told the IndyStar<\/a> of Clark on Sunday in a postgame interview. \u201cShe came into the best league in the world. She found her footing. She\u2019s continued to get better. She\u2019s put herself in a position to be one of the best players in this league. She\u2019s one of the reasons we\u2019re here today.\u201d<\/p>\n

Clark spoke to AP<\/a> about the \u201ctremendous honor,\u201d and took the opportunity to gush over her teammates. \u201cThis recognition wouldn\u2019t be possible without an incredible group of teammates and coaches, and we are looking forward to continuing an exciting regular season in the postseason,\u201d she said on Sunday.<\/p>\n

Clark also received the honors of being named to the All-WNBA First Team, where she is joined by Napheese Collier, Breanna Stewart, Alyssa Thomas<\/strong> and A\u2019ja Wilson<\/strong>, as well as the AP All-Rookie Team alongside Kamilla Cardoso, Leonie Fiebich, Rickea Jackson<\/strong> and Angel Reese<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s no secret that McCaffery and Clark<\/a> are each other\u2019s biggest fans. After she was named the No. 1 WNBA draft pick, the couple celebrated her career milestone with a night out in New York City. At the time, Clark gushed over her boyfriend in a sweet upload via her Instagram Story.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy fave person in the world,\u201d she captioned the April post. (Clark and McCaffery went public with their romance in August 2023.)<\/p>\n
