Janet Jackson has apologized for her comments in an interview that was published by The Guardian<\/i> over the weekend<\/a> where the singer questioned whether Vice President Kamala Harris was Black, saying her controversial remarks were \u201cbased on misinformation.\u201d<\/s><\/p>\nIn a statement Sunday to Buzzfeed<\/a>, Jackson\u2019s manager Mo Elmasri said: \u201c[Janet] deeply respects Vice President Kamala Harris and her accomplishments as a Black and Indian woman,\u201d Elmasri\u2019s statement said. \u201cJanet apologizes for any confusion caused and acknowledges the importance of accurate representation in public discourse.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe ‘apology,’ first reported by Buzzfeed and repeated by multiple major outlets, was made by a man named Mo Elmasri who \u2014 apparently inaccurately \u2014 claimed to be the singer\u2019s manager … However, the singer has been managed by her brother Randy for many years.\u201d<\/p>\n
Elmasri did not immediately respond to Variety\u2019s requests for further comment.<\/p>\n
