Maybe even better.<\/li>\n<li class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup mb-16 pl-12 font-fkroman text-18 leading-160 -tracking-1\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.penguinrandomhouse.com\/books\/737290\/character-limit-by-kate-conger-and-ryan-mac\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em><strong>Character Limit: How Elon Musk Destroyed Twitter<\/strong><\/em><\/a><em><strong>. <\/strong><\/em>An excellent addition to the canon of books about Musk\u2019s takeover and overhaul of the social network we once knew. There\u2019s a lot of great new detail in here about the chaos of becoming X, too \u2014 a really good read.<\/li>\n<li class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup mb-16 pl-12 font-fkroman text-18 leading-160 -tracking-1\"><a href=\"https:\/\/newsroom.snap.com\/sps-2024-simple-snapchat?lang=en-US\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Simple Snapchat<\/strong><\/a><strong>. <\/strong>I\u2019d love to tell you to buy Snap\u2019s new <a href=\"https:\/\/www.spectacles.com\/?lang=en-US\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Spectacles<\/strong><\/a>, but they\u2019re ridiculous and also not available for regular people to buy. But you <em>will <\/em>be able to get <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/2024\/9\/17\/24246999\/snapchat-redesign-three-tabs-stories-spotlight\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Snapchat\u2019s new design<\/a>, which is so much cleaner and more approachable than the app has been in recent years. I\u2019m not sure it\u2019ll win many new users, but Snapchat is still one of the best messaging apps out there.<\/li>\n<li class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup mb-16 pl-12 font-fkroman text-18 leading-160 -tracking-1\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.tkqlhce.com\/click-8836598-11556694?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.bose.com%2Fp%2Fearbuds%2Fbose-quietcomfort-headphones%2FQCEARB24-HEADPHONEIN.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>The Bose QuietComfort Earbuds<\/strong><\/a>. The AirPods 4 got all the shine this week, but I\u2019ve been a fan of Bose\u2019s earbuds for a while \u2014 they sound great, they have great battery, and I love <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/2024\/9\/18\/24247961\/bose-quietcomfort-earbuds-announced\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the new \u201cHey headphones\u201d wake word<\/a> on the new model. And at $179, these are a solid Apple alternative.<\/li>\n<li class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup mb-16 pl-12 font-fkroman text-18 leading-160 -tracking-1\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.themoviedb.org\/movie\/1143128-omni-loop?language=en-US\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em><strong>Omni Loop<\/strong><\/em><\/a><em>. <\/em>The read on this time-travel movie starring Ayo Edebiri and Mary-Louise Parker seems to be that sticklers for continuity will be frustrated but there\u2019s some good and thoughtful stuff and a lot of fun to be had. I will be having that fun ASAP.\u00a0<\/li>\n<li class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup mb-16 pl-12 font-fkroman text-18 leading-160 -tracking-1\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.themoviedb.org\/tv\/194764-the-penguin?language=en-US\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em><strong>The Penguin<\/strong><\/em><\/a><em>. <\/em>\u201cGritty Batman show on HBO\u201d is all you need to tell me for me to be fully in on The Penguin. The reviews so far are a bit mixed \u2014 I\u2019ve seen \u201cbest show in forever\u201d and \u201ckinda meh,\u201d and a lot of people are comparing it unfavorably to The Sopranos. Personally, I can\u2019t wait.<\/li>\n<li class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup mb-16 pl-12 font-fkroman text-18 leading-160 -tracking-1\"><a href=\"https:\/\/tripsy.app\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Tripsy 3.0<\/strong><\/a><strong>.<\/strong> I\u2019m traveling a lot this fall, so I\u2019m back on the hunt for a good place to put all my confirmation numbers, flight details, and expenses. Tripit is fine, but Tripsy looks way better. I\u2019m also into the map view, which is a surprisingly helpful way to plot out a day.<\/li>\n<li class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup mb-16 pl-12 font-fkroman text-18 leading-160 -tracking-1\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.themoviedb.org\/tv\/138501-agatha-all-along\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em><strong>Agatha All Along<\/strong><\/em><\/a><em>. <\/em>WandaVision is the only Marvel show I recommend to people who don\u2019t care about Marvel because the whole thing was so unusually structured and smart. This spinoff sounds <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/2024\/9\/18\/24246402\/agatha-all-along-review\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">just as inventive and just as cool<\/a>. More Kathryn Hahn is always a good thing.<\/li>\n<li class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup mb-16 pl-12 font-fkroman text-18 leading-160 -tracking-1\"><a href=\"https:\/\/50games.fun\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em><strong>UFO 50<\/strong><\/em><\/a><em>.<strong> <\/strong><\/em>A bunch of developers in 2024 decided to make a bunch of games that look like they\u2019re from the 1980s. Taken together, what they made is kind of a historical document about gaming but also just, like, a bunch of really fun retro-style games. Such a cool concept.<\/li>\n<li class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup mb-16 pl-12 font-fkroman text-18 leading-160 -tracking-1\">\u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/go.skimresources.com\/?id=1025X1701640&amp;xs=1&amp;url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DQciJ9ubeLQk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>The Mark Zuckerberg Interview<\/strong><\/a>.\u201d You probably saw the pictures from last week of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.acquired.fm\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em><strong>Acquired<\/strong><\/em><\/a> podcast hosts interviewing Zuck at the Chase Center in San Francisco. The resulting 90-minute episode is\u2026 kind of awkward in spots but also really revealing in spots. My go-to apps are Notes (every morning, I make a bulleted list of things I need to get done), Voice Memos (it\u2019s super convenient if you\u2019re thinking of an idea or a good melody pops into your head to just go ahead and record it before it\u2019s long gone) and <a href=\"http:\/\/play.threesgame.com\/&#039;\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em><strong>Threes<\/strong><\/em><\/a>. <em>Threes<\/em> is a game where you try and combine blocks of the same number on a playing field without running out of space, and I have truly not gotten further in the past three or four years, but I still play it like four times a day. Just out of nervous habit. And then Overcast is the podcast app. Everything else is lame in comparison.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"duet--article--article-body-component\">\n<p class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup duet--article--standard-paragraph mb-20 font-fkroman text-18 leading-160 -tracking-1 selection:bg-franklin-20 dark:text-white dark:selection:bg-blurple [&amp;_a:hover]:shadow-highlight-franklin dark:[&amp;_a:hover]:shadow-highlight-blurple [&amp;_a]:shadow-underline-black dark:[&amp;_a]:shadow-underline-white\"><em>I also asked Alex to share a few things he\u2019s into right now. I love pinball. But loving pinball means you\u2019re a pinball snob and you like certain games better than others. For me, the mid-\u201990s Midway\/Williams pinball games were a renaissance, so I\u2019m constantly trying to find copies of Attack From Mars, Medieval Madness, Twilight Zone, Monster Bash, Creature from the Black Lagoon, and Bride of Pinbot. Fortunately, the Pinball Map helps me locate them.<\/li>\n<li class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup mb-16 pl-12 font-fkroman text-18 leading-160 -tracking-1\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.koalasampler.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Koala<\/strong><\/a>. Koala is an incredibly powerful sampler app. You can record sounds directly off your phone or load sounds in, or rip sound directly from a video. It has nearly all the functionality of the classic Roland SP-404 Samplers, except those are $500, but Koala is around $5.<\/li>\n<li class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup mb-16 pl-12 font-fkroman text-18 leading-160 -tracking-1\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ericasynths.lv\/shop\/standalone-instruments-1\/drum-synthesizer-lxr-02\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Erica Synths\u2019 LXR-02<\/strong><\/a>. A cheap handheld drum machine that you can load sounds on to or make sounds with. I am very much a dude making little beats on public transit.<\/li>\n<li class=\"duet--article--dangerously-set-cms-markup mb-16 pl-12 font-fkroman text-18 leading-160 -tracking-1\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blog.wfmu.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>WFMU\u2019s Beware of the Blog<\/strong><\/a>. A blog for a nonprofit radio station in New York City that was shut down almost a decade ago but is full of fantastic obscure recordings, comics, and bizarre culture stories.
