The 58-year-old singer is mum to seven-year-old son Eissa Al Mana, who she has with her husband Wissam Al Mana, 49, and has now opened up about how the child has had a \u201cbeautiful impact\u201d on her life.<\/p>\n
She told The Guardian: \u201cThe most important thing I\u2019ve done, the biggest thing I\u2019ve done, is become a mother, and it\u2019s had a beautiful impact on my life. <\/p>\n
\u201cI wanted to have three children, but thought, \u2018I should stop there, that\u2019s probably all I can handle.\u2019 Because you have to give all of yourself. <\/p>\n
\u201cObviously, you have to work, but you don\u2019t come first any more. <\/p>\n
\n\u201cYour life completely changes. And I wouldn\u2019t trade it for anything.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nJanet also said she was bringing her boy up completely differently that she was, after she was thrust into fame aged eight when she appeared on \u2018The Carol Burnett Show\u2019 with her singer brothers.<\/p>\n
\nShe says she and her son\u2019s childhoods are already \u201ccompletely different\u201d as she worked and he hasn\u2019t.<\/p>\n
\nJanet went on: \u201cI want him to experience being a child, because you don\u2019t get to do this over. <\/p>\n
\n\u201cYou\u2019re an adult for the rest of your life, so I want him to enjoy each and every minute of being a child.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nJanet had her son on 3 January, 2017, aged 50, and added she is passing on different values and lessons to the child than she got from her parents Katherine Jackson, 94, and her late dad Joe Jackson, who is said to have brutally beaten and verbally abused her brothers as he drove them to fame and fortune.<\/p>\n
\nShe says she\u2019s aware as a mother of \u201csome things you wish your parents had done differently\u201d, adding: \u201cBecause if they had done this with me, it would have been much better for me as a child.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nDespite her hard upbringing Janet said: \u201cI hated it as a kid, but I\u2019m thankful for it now. I have to give credit to my parents for keeping me grounded.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
