Hayden Panettiere<\/strong><\/a> opened up about how her brother Jansen Panettiere<\/strong>\u2018s death caused her body to change.<\/p>\n

\u201cI just ballooned out,\u201d Hayden, 35, told People<\/em><\/a> on Wednesday, September 18, about rapid weight gain she experienced from the \u201cstress and cortisol\u201d going through her body. \u201cI didn\u2019t feel confident to put on clothes and get out of the house, but I also knew that I needed to get out and keep moving or I\u2019d never stop looking and feeling this way.\u201d<\/p>\n

Hayden referred to the experience as \u201ca destructive hamster wheel\u201d that shifted when she was introduced to her personal trainer Marnie Alton<\/strong>.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cThese long, beautiful walks where we could vent and it would be this therapy session. Marnie empowered me,\u201d she recalled. \u201cMy body just started reacting, not just from the working out. It allowed me to release the stress, the high expectations I\u2019d always put on myself.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tHayden Panettiere has had quite the career \u2014 and her personal life has been just as captivating. The Golden Globe-nominated actress started modeling at 5 months old and appeared in her first commercial when she was 11 months old. Her big break came in 1994 when she began playing Sarah Roberts on\u00a0One Life to Live\u00a0at [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

As a result, Hayden was able to face her struggles<\/a> with agoraphobia too, adding, \u201cThere\u2019s nothing like looking in the mirror and feeling like you look good enough to walk out the door.\u201d<\/p>\n

News broke in February 2023 that Jansen died at age 28<\/a> of aortic valve complications from an enlarged heart. Jansen got his start as an actor with roles in Even Stevens<\/em> and The Walking Dead<\/em> before he became a traffic artist. Jansen and Hayden even costarred in the Disney Channel Original Movie Tiger Cruise<\/em> and Racing Stripes<\/em> when they were younger.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe is a very balanced child. He has a heart of gold and would never wish bad on anyone. Sometimes I need to take a lesson from him. He keeps his cool really well,\u201d Hayden told TV Guide<\/em> in 2007. \u201cWatching him, because he is such a kid, you realize sometimes how down you are and for absolutely no reason. I guess it is just that it is very difficult for kids in this business.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jansen, for his part, said he learned a lot from his sister. \u201cShe gets me a little more noticed. She gives me a kick-start. With The Last Day of Summer<\/em>, they will notice me more because she is my sister,\u201d he added at the time. \u201cIt is almost like you are looking in a book, and the bookmark is my sister and she is basically showing me, she is able to push me out there. She helps me tremendously.\u201d<\/p>\n

After her brother\u2019s passing, Hayden weathered the grief<\/a> out of the public eye. \u201cHe was my only sibling, and it was my job to protect him,\u201d she told People. \u201cWhen I lost him, I felt like I lost half of my soul.\u201d<\/p>\n
