Google is taking away a Pixel Buds Pro feature that lets users touch and hold an earbud to hear unread notifications. In an update on Tuesday<\/a>, Google confirmed that Assistant \u201cwill\u00a0no longer\u00a0read unread notifications when using the\u00a0press Assistant feature.\u201d <\/p>\n<\/div>\n Additionally, Google says Assistant will stop automatically alerting you to unread notifications on the Pixel Buds, nor will it let you reply. Instead, Google says you can hear notifications by activating Assistant and saying \u201cRead my notifications.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n The \u201ctouch and hold\u201d gesture on the Pixel Buds Pro currently lets wearers switch between active noise cancelation and Transparency mode by default. Before this change, users could configure this gesture to have Assistant read notifications aloud.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n Last week, Pixel Buds Pro users noticed that they weren\u2019t able<\/a> to use the \u201ctouch and hold\u201d to hear their notifications, but Google didn\u2019t confirm that it\u2019s removing the feature until now. <\/p>\n<\/div>\n The change, which Google says it\u2019s making based on user feedback, comes about a week before the release of the Pixel Buds Pro 2<\/a>. It seems like more tweaks are to come, as Google says it will \u201cevaluate further changes to notifications.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
