Julianne Hough<\/strong><\/a> is fully on board with Anna Delvey<\/strong>\u2019s Dancing With the Stars<\/em><\/a> casting.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s controversial, for sure,\u201d Hough, 36, told Grey\u2019s Anatomy<\/em><\/a> stars Jessica Capshaw<\/strong> and Camilla Luddington<\/strong> of the convicted felon on an episode of their \u201cCall It What It Is\u201d<\/a> podcast, released on Monday, September 16. \u201cI\u2019m so obsessed.\u201d<\/p>\n

Both Hough and Luddington, 40, shared their excitement to see Delvey, 33, on the dance floor.<\/p>\n

\u201cTalk about controversy<\/a>. But, then again, in a way that allows people to show their most true self. This is a great opportunity for her,\u201d Hough continued. \u201cBut I just love it so much because I was obsessed with the show.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tMirrorball champs or not,\u00a0Dancing With the Stars\u00a0has featured some impeccable professional dancers in the years since the ABC competition series premiered in 2005. Derek Hough, Cheryl Burke and Maksim Chmerkovskiy are among the talent who have lit up the ballroom. Some of the show\u2019s stars went on to achieve major success in their careers while [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Delvey (born Anna Sorokin) was sentenced to four to 12 years in prison after being convicted in May 2019 on one count of attempted grand larceny, three counts of grand larceny and four counts of theft after pretending to be a German heiress and scamming multiple financial institutions<\/a>. She was released on parole in February 2021 and will serve out the remainder of her term on house arrest. Delvey recieved permission to relocate from New York City to Los Angeles in order to appear on DWTS.<\/p>\n

Her story played out on the 2022 Netflix series Inventing Anna<\/em><\/a>, starring Julia Garner<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Further discussing the upcoming season of DWTS, Hough offered some details about what it was like crossing paths with Delvey on set. Hough even revealed that Delvey\u2019s ankle monitor has been \u201cbedazzled\u201d already.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe plays into it,\u201d Hough continued. \u201cWhenever she says I have a great outfit on \u2014 I\u2019ve seen her two or three times now \u2014 I\u2019m like, \u2018Oh my gosh.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Delvey spoke to Us Weekly<\/em> exclusively about DWTS<\/em> earlier this month after her casting was officially announced. Her partner, Ezra Sosa, revealed that Delvey only saw season 30<\/a>, which aired in 2021.<\/p>\n

\n\t\t\tDancing With the Stars season 33 has its cast, bringing together professional athletes, reality TV royalty, models and more to vie for the coveted Len Goodman Memorial Mirrorball trophy. \u201cI think it\u2019s gonna be an excellent season. I think that this is one of the few seasons where there really isn\u2019t an automatic frontrunner,\u201d DWTS [\u2026]\t\t<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

\u201c[It] is actually super ironic because the only time [Anna] has seen Dancing With the Stars<\/em> was in jail,\u201d Soza, 23, said.<\/p>\n

Delvey, for her part, told Us<\/em> that she\u2019s not concerned about dancing with the ankle monitor<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cI mean, it\u2019s fine. It\u2019s just the same as, like, dancing without it, I think,\u201d she said. \u201cIt\u2019s pretty light. It\u2019s not that bad.\u201d<\/p>\n
