In Moore\u2019s mind, the reaction to the photo came from a ridiculously puritanical place. \u201cWhy is it that we have to deny that we had sex?\u201d the star of 1995\u2019s The Scarlet Letter<\/em> asked. \u201cThat\u2019s the fear, right, that if you show your belly, that means, oh, my gosh, you\u2019ve had sex.\u201d<\/p>\n This isn\u2019t the first time that cover has come up in recent days. Speaking with Interview<\/em><\/a> earlier this week, Moore also addressed the now-legendary shot. \u201cObviously, we did some images clothed, but at the end of the shoot, we did other ones of me nude. I remember saying to Annie [Leibovitz], \u2018Wouldn\u2019t it be amazing if they used this for the cover?\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cThen two weeks later,\u201d Moore continued, \u201cAnnie calls me to say, \u2018Hey, I\u2019m sending you the image. How would you feel about letting them use this for the cover? Or we could do the one of your hand covering your breast.\u2019 It\u2019s not that I was entirely naive, but I never imagined it would have the impact that it did, because I was just reflecting how I felt\u2014that women had not had an opportunity to express themselves while pregnant.\u201d<\/p>\n The photo unleashed a new era for celebrities who are expecting, former Vanity Fair<\/em> editor Tina Brown<\/strong> later said. \u201cStars who are pregnant since, all want to do that Demi Moore shot,\u201d Brown told CNBC<\/a> in a 2018 interview. These days, \u201cpregnant stars want to say, [this is] my rite of passage,\u201d Brown said. \u201cI get to do my Demi Moore cover.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
