Linkin Park\u2019s Mike Shinoda says the band is enjoying a \u2018new chapter\u2019<\/p>\n

The group\u2019s founder spoke out as the group kicked off its \u2018From Zero World Tour\u2019 at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles, with new lead singer Emily Armstrong from Dead Sara fronting the band seven years after Chester Bennington<\/a> died by suicide in 2017.<\/p>\n

Mike, 47, took a moment during the show to ask the crowd whether or not they had attended a Linkin Park concert before, with first-time audience members cheering. <\/p>\n

He then said in a video captured by fans and shared online: \u201cI mean, that\u2019s part of why we’re back out here. We are thrilled to be back out here.”<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is not about erasing the past. It is about starting this new chapter into the future and coming out here for each and every one of you.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\u201cWe love playing for you guys, we love writing this music \u2013 we\u2019re very f****** excited about the new record. <\/p>\n

\n\u201cSo thank you guys very much \u2013 we\u2019ve had an incredible night with you. Hopefully we\u2019ll see you soon.\u201d<\/p>\n

\nAlong with Mike and Emily, Linkin Park now also features Brad Delson, Joe Hahn, Dave Farrell and Colin Brittain.<\/p>\n

\nThe band announced its return and its new additions of Emily and Colin on 5 September.<\/p>\n

\nMike added the band now feels \u201creally empowered\u201d with its new line-up \u2013 adding: \u201cWe\u2019re weaving together the sonic touchpoints we\u2019ve been known for and still exploring new ones.\u201d<\/p>\n

\nTragic Chester Bennington struggled with depression and substance abuse for most of his life, starting in his childhood. <\/p>\n

\nHe was found dead on 20 July, 2017, at his home in Palos Verdes Estates, California, with the coroner concluding his death was a result of suicide.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
