Sabrina Carpenter<\/b><\/a> thanked her family while accepting the Song of the Year honor for her hit \u201cEspresso\u201d during the <\/span>MTV Video Music Awards<\/span><\/a> on September 11, 2024. Following the shout out, many fans have been wondering who Sabrina\u2019s parents are.<\/p>\n

Who Is Sabrina Carpenter\u2019s Mom Elizabeth?<\/h2>\n

Sabrina\u2019s mother, Elizabeth, is a chiropractor and she owns her own practice in East Greenville, Pennsylvania, according to her LinkedIn bio.<\/a><\/p>\n

Despite pursuing a career as a chiropractor, Elizabeth\u2019s love of the arts likely played a role in Sabrina\u2019s successful career. \u201cMy mom was a dancer in a company,\u201d Sabrina told JJ Ryan<\/b> in an <\/span>August 2018 interview<\/span><\/a>, adding that she followed in her mother\u2019s footsteps and \u201cwas a dancer [her] whole life growing up.\u201d<\/p>\n

Who Is Sabrina Carpenter\u2019s Dad David?<\/h2>\n

Sabrina\u2019s father is named David<\/strong>, as he also has a musical background. \u201cMy dad says he was in a band, but I think it was like a garage band \u2014 and I don\u2019t really know if that\u2019s true,\u201d the \u201cPlease Please Please\u201d singer<\/a> told JJ.<\/p>\n

Does Sabrina Carpenter Have Siblings?<\/h2>\n

The Girl Meets World<\/span><\/i> star<\/span><\/a> is the youngest daughter of four. Her older half sister <\/span>Cayla<\/b> works as a hairstylist, while her sister <\/span>Shannon<\/b> is a dancer and her sister <\/span>Sarah<\/b> is a singer.<\/p>\n

Sabrina clearly has a close bond with her sisters, and she even referenced Shannon in her 2022 song \u201cSkinny Dipping.\u201d In the song, Sabrina imagines running into an ex at a coffee shop and catching up over small talk. \u201cYou\u2019ll say, \u2018Hi,\u2019 I\u2019ll say, \u2018Hi, how are you?\u2019 \/ You\u2019ll say, \u2018How\u2019s your family? How\u2019s your sister?\u2019\u201d she sings. \u201cI\u2019ll say, \u2018Shannon\u2019s being Shannon.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

Sabrina Carpenter Thanked Her Family at the 2024 VMAs<\/h2>\n

After winning her first award at the VMAs during the 2024 show, Sabrina thanked her family for their support during her acceptance speech. She gushed about her fans for always rallying behind her before she reflected on the people in her inner circle.<\/p>\n

\u201cThank you to my managers. Thank you to my family, my cats and dogs that are at home watching, and thank you to the people that made \u2018Espresso\u2019 with me,\u201d she said. \u201cI love you guys so much. I love making music with you, and I can\u2019t wait to share more with the world. And thank you to that me espresso.\u201d<\/p>\n

However, the 2024 VMAs was not the first time Sabrina credited her family for their support. While speaking to JJ during the 2018 interview, Sabrina explained that her family has always been supportive of her musical aspirations.<\/p>\n

\u201cI remember being like 8 and 9 years old singing karaoke,\u201d she recalled about own of her past family gatherings. \u201cEveryone just had way too much alcohol so they were so fascinated by this little 8-year-old singing karaoke.\u201d<\/p>\n

She remembered that everyone was \u201cencouraging\u201d and being \u201caround adults that really believed\u201d in her helped build her confidence.<\/p>\n

After noting that many adults would have found her singing \u201cannoying,\u201d she reiterated that she has always felt supported. \u201cPeople were never like that to me. They were very very kind and supportive. I always remember that,\u201d the \u201cJuno\u201d singer shared.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
