Chappell Roan<\/strong><\/a> is clearing the air about that viral red carpet moment at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Roan, 26, was seen clapping back at a photographer who shouted at her to \u201cshut the f\u2013k up\u201d while she walked the red carpet at the UBS Arena in New York on Wednesday, September 11. In a widely circulated clip<\/a> on social media, the \u201cHot to Go!\u201d singer hit back, \u201cYou shut the f\u2013k up. No, not me, bitch.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is quite overwhelming and quite scary,\u201d the four-time VMAs nominee later explained to Entertainment Tonight<\/em> on the red carpet. \u201cI think for someone who gets a lot of anxiety around people yelling at you \u2026 the carpet is horrifying, and I yelled back. You don\u2019t get to yell at me like that.\u201d<\/p>\n

Roan, who won Best New Artist<\/a> and performed her hit song \u201cGood Luck, Babe!\u201d at the ceremony, has previously been open about dealing with her burgeoning fame and setting boundaries with fans.<\/p>\n

Would you harass her in public?\u201d Roan said in the first of two TikTok videos. \u201cWould you go up to a random lady and say, \u2018Can I get a photo with you?\u2019 and she\u2019s like, \u2018No, what the f\u2013k,\u2019 and then you get mad at this random lady?\u201d<\/p>\n

Roan continued, \u201cWould you be offended if she says no to your time because she has her own time? Would you stalk her family? Would you follow her around? Would you try to dissect her life and bully her online?\u201d<\/p>\n
