Kathy Bates<\/strong><\/a> is feeling more confident than ever after losing 100 pounds.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s helped me tremendously that, over the last six or seven years, I\u2019ve lost 100 pounds,\u201d the actress, 76, said to Variety<\/em><\/a> in an interview published on Wednesday, September 11. \u201cI don\u2019t think I\u2019ve been this slim since I was in college.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bates explained that her weight loss has helped her tackle her latest project, CBS\u2019 Matlock<\/em> reboot, with ease. Before joining Matlock<\/em>, Bates last starred in American Horror Story: Apocalypse<\/em> which aired in 2018.<\/p>\n

While Bates has been focusing on her health in recent years, she admitted she struggled the most while filming the show Harry\u2019s Law<\/em> from 2011 to 2012, where she was at her heaviest weight.<\/p>\n

\u201cI had to sit down every moment that I could. It was hard for me to walk,\u201d she reflected. \u201cI\u2019m ashamed I let myself get so out of shape, but now I have a tremendous amount of energy.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bates has been considering retiring following Matlock<\/em>, but she\u2019s not ready to give up on acting yet.<\/p>\n

\u201cI can\u2019t believe I\u2019m saying that about doing episodic TV, but this has been so much of a challenge and a delight,\u201d she said to the outlet. \u201cMatty is certainly my magic carpet right now, and I want her to go sailing on for quite a long time.\u201d<\/p>\n

Earlier this week, Bates flirted with the idea of saying goodbye to acting after Matlock<\/em>, calling the project her \u201clast dance.\u201d Before being offered the role, she contemplated retirement<\/a> but the legal drama\u2019s script changed her perspective.<\/p>\n

\u201cEverything I\u2019ve prayed for, worked for, clawed my way up for, I am suddenly able to be asked to use all of it,\u201d she said in an interview with the New York Times<\/em> on Sunday, September 8. \u201cAnd it\u2019s exhausting.\u201d<\/p>\n

Before Bates\u2019 current weight loss milestone, she had another victory when she dropped 60 pounds<\/a> in January 2019. The Oscar winner exclusively opened up to Us Weekly<\/em><\/a> about her fitness journey.<\/p>\n
