Dave Grohl<\/strong> is a father once again. The 55-year-old Foo Fighters frontman took to Instagram to announce that he recently welcomed a new baby girl\u2014the unexpected twist being that she was outside of his 21-year-marriage to Jordyn Blum.<\/strong><\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019ve recently become the father of a new baby daughter, born outside of my marriage,\u201d Grohl wrote in his statement<\/a>. \u201cI plan to be a loving and supportive parent to her. I love my wife and my children, and I am doing everything I can to regain their trust and earn their forgiveness. We\u2019re grateful for your consideration toward all the children involved, as we move forward together.\u201d<\/p>\n Grohl has been married to Blum since 2003. They share three daughters: Violet, 18; Harper, 15; and Ophelia, 10. The whole family appeared together on the Grammys red carpet<\/a> in 2023, days after Grohl accepted the lifetime achievement award on behalf of Nirvana from the Recording Academy at the Special Merit Awards<\/a>.<\/p>\n Grohl served as the drummer of the culture-shaking \u201990s rock band Nirvana, then launched Foo Fighters in 1994 as the lead singer and guitarist; the group now consists of guitarist Chris Shiflett,<\/strong> bassist Nate Mendel,<\/strong> keyboardist Rami Jaffee,<\/strong> guitarist Pat Smear,<\/strong> and drummer Josh Freese.<\/strong> (Grohl\u2019s best friend and former Foo Fighters drummer, Taylor Hawkins, died in March 2022<\/a>.) With hits like \u201cEverlong,\u201d \u201cThe Pretender,\u201d and \u201cBest of You,\u201d the Foo Fighters are now among the most successful rock bands of all time, having won 15 Grammy Awards<\/a> and inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame<\/a> in 2021.<\/p>\n Grohl did not share any further information about his daughter. He and his wife met in 2001 at the Sunset Marquis Whiskey Bar. \u201cWhen I first met my wife, we went out on a few dates and I decided that I wasn\u2019t ready for a serious relationship, so I just stopped calling,\u201d he said in a 2007 interview with Elle<\/em><\/a>.\u201d After three months, I had a revelation and called her back. She picked up the phone and said, \u2018Oh, I never thought I\u2019d hear from you again.\u2019\u201d After having children, Grohl told Time<\/a> in 2009, he was less interested in going on the road with the Foo Fighters. \u201cI used to tour nine months out of the year. Now I don\u2019t like being away from my kids for more than 12 days,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n \u201cIt\u2019s changed everything that I do,\u201d he continued. \u201cWhen you have kids, you see life through different eyes. You feel love more deeply and are maybe a little more compassionate. It\u2019s inevitable that that would make its way into your songwriting.\u201d<\/p>\n A representative for Grohl had no further comment.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
