Darth Vader<\/a>, the actor \u2013 who also starred in \u2018Field of Dreams\u2019 and voiced Mustafa in \u2018The Lion King\u2019 \u2013 passed away at his home in Dutchess County, New York, on Monday. (09.09.24)<\/p>\nHis representatives from Independent Artist Group confirmed the news to Deadline.<\/p>\n
Along with his string of iconic roles, he was one of the world\u2019s few entertainers to have won the EGOT \u2013 Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, Tony \u2013 set of awards.<\/p>\n
James also received two Primetime Emmy Awards, a Grammy Award and three Tony Awards and was presented with the Honorary Academy Award.<\/p>\n
\nHe reprised his Darth Vader role in \u2018Star Wars: Episode III \u2013 Revenge of the Sith\u2019 in 2005 and the franchise\u2019s 2016 follow-up \u2018Rogue One: A Star Wars Story\u2019. <\/p>\n
\nHe won a new generation of fans voicing Mufasa in the animated \u2018Lion King\u2019 in 1994 and the hybrid live action version of the cartoon released in 2019. <\/p>\n
\nBorn on 17 January, 1931, in Arkabutla, Mississippi, his other big-screen credits include a ruthless warlord in \u2018Conan the Barbarian\u2019, as well as roles in Eddie Murphy comedy \u2018Coming to America\u2019, \u2018The Hunt for Red October\u2019 and 1992\u2019s \u2018Patriot Games\u2019.<\/p>\n
\nThe actor will also be remembered for his trio of appearances on \u2018The Simpsons\u2019.<\/p>\n
\nNominated for a lead actor Oscar for his role in 1971\u2019s \u2018The Great White Hope\u2019, he was given an honorary Academy Award in 2012.<\/p>\n
\nHis two Emmy wins came in 1991 \u2013 for lead actor in a drama series for \u2018Gabriel\u2019s Fire\u2019 and supporting actor in a miniseries or a special for \u2018Heat Wave\u2019.<\/p>\n
\nHe won his two Tonys for his stage work in a production of \u2018The Great White Hope\u2019 in 1969 and for plating Troy Maxson in August Wilson\u2019s \u2018Fences\u2019.<\/p>\n
\nJames also received a Special Tony Award in 2017.<\/p>\n
\nHis more recent appearances included roles in 2017\u2019s \u2018The Gin Game\u2019 on Broadway.<\/p>\n
\nIn 1968, James married actress and singer Julienne Marie, who he met while performing as Othello in 1964.<\/p>\n
\nThey had no children and divorced in 1972 and 10 years later he married actress Cecilia Hart, with whom he had a son, Flynn.<\/p>\n
\nShe died from ovarian cancer on 16 October, 2016.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
