Selena Gomez<\/strong><\/a> is opening up on her health once again and revealed she is unable to bear her own children due to \u201cmedical issues.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI haven\u2019t ever said this,\u201d Selena, 32, told Vanity Fair<\/em><\/a> in an interview published on Monday, September 9. \u201cI unfortunately can\u2019t carry my own children. I have a lot of medical issues that would put my life and the baby\u2019s in jeopardy.\u201d<\/p>\n The \u201cWho Says\u201d singer said it was something she \u201chad to grieve for a while,\u201d admitting it\u2019s \u201cnot necessarily the way\u201d she envisioned parenting.<\/p>\n \u201cI thought it would happen the way it happens for everyone. [But] I\u2019m in a much better place with that. I find it a blessing that there are wonderful people willing to do surrogacy or adoption, which are both huge possibilities for me,\u201d she told the outlet. \u201cIt made me really thankful for the other outlets for people who are dying to be moms. I\u2019m one of those people. I\u2019m excited for what that journey will look like, but it\u2019ll look a little different. At the end of the day, I don\u2019t care. It\u2019ll be mine. It\u2019ll be my baby.\u201d<\/p>\n Selena touched on how this affects her relationship with her boyfriend, Benny Blanco<\/strong><\/a>, who she confirmed she was dating in December 2023<\/a>, and said it hasn\u2019t added any pressure. \u201cWe always make sure we\u2019re protecting what we have, but there\u2019s no rules,\u201d she explained. \u201cI want him to always be himself. I always want to be myself.\u201d<\/p>\n Selena has been open about her health struggles over the years. The former Disney star gave fans an inside look at her debilitating anxiety and depression<\/a> as well as the lupus diagnosis that led to her 2017 kidney transplant in her 2022 documentary, Selena Gomez: My Mind & Me<\/em>.<\/p>\n \u201cLast year I was suffering mentally and emotionally and I wasn\u2019t able to stay all buttoned up and together. I sought support and the doctors were able to give me a clear diagnosis,\u201d she candidly told fans. \u201cThe moment that I received that information, I finally had the knowledge of why I had suffered for so many years with depression and anxiety. So I began to face it head on, as my mother had taught me to face my fears and challenges when I was younger. I am happier, I am healthier, and I am in control of my emotions and thoughts more than I have ever been. So I\u2019m very happy about that.\u201d<\/p>\n
